Circuit-baas dolblij na F1 Heineken Dutch Grand Prix: "Verstappen doet het maar even"

Voor de organisatie van de F1 Heineken Dutch Grand Prix is een droomsenario uitgekomen met de uitkomst van de Grand Prix op Zandvoort. Dat stelt circuitdirecteur Robert van Overdijk zondag voor de camera bij ZiggoSport.

De zo'n 70.000 toeschouwers gingen uit hun dak nadat Max Verstappen de Grand Prix van Nederland op zijn naam wist te schrijven. De Nederlander schreef geschiedenis, aangezien Niki Lauda de Grand Prix 36 jaar geleden voor het laatst wist te winnen.

Voor de organisatie van de race is een 'droomscenario' uitgekomen. "Ik probeer me voor te stellen waar ik nog meer van had kunnen dromen, maar ik kan het niet bedenken", zei circuitdirecteur Robert van Overdijk tegen ZiggoSport. "Dit was het gedroomde scenario."

De circuitbaas is onder de indruk van Max Verstappen die deed waarvoor het publiek was gekomen. "De verwachtingen waren ontzettend hoog. Iedereen dacht na de kwalificatie: hij wint die race ook wel even, maar zo werkt 't niet. Daarom stond ik vanochtend toch wel met gezonde spanning op. Een uur voor de race stond hij (Max Verstappen, red.) in zijn spijkerbroekje de koning en zijn gezin nog rustig uit te leggen hoe de auto werkt. Een uur later moest hij presteren, waarbij hij wist dat niet alleen heen Nederland, maar ook de rest van de wereld naar hem keek", vertelt de circuitdirecteur.

Hij besluit vol bewondering: "Max is een heel coole baas. Dat wisten we al, maar doe het maar eens, bij de eerste grand prix in 36 jaar in eigen land."

Het was een fenomenaal mooie dag. Best case scenario. Geweldig dat we het tijdperk Verstappen jr. mogen mee maken. Wat een talent. Nog maar kort geleden had je een historisch moment zoals gisteren niet voor mogelijk gehouden.

Het slagen van het event valt of staat niet bij een overwinning van Max. Wel mooi voor de sfeer en vreugde.

  Voor deze specifieke race natuurlijk wel een beetje. De beelden van de totale feestgekte gaan de wereld over en zijn pure reclame voor de NL gp en de F1 in het algemeen. Dit was precies wat ze wilden toen Zandvoort aan de kalender werd toegevoegd.
  Ik ik moet toegeven, het zag er ook allemaal goed uit!
  
  Maar zelf zit ik ook niet zo in mekaar, een gp weekend staat of valt met spanning op de baan. En dat was deze race minimaal.
  Het circuit lag er super bij, zeker geen 13-in-een dozijn baan..
  Er zijn weinig inhaalmogelijkheden, en de wagens kunnen slecht volgen, dat laatste is hopelijk met de volgende generatie wagens verholpen

je moet de buitenlandse media er even op naslaan , wat die schrijven is minstens net zo mooi! ik ben ervan overtuigd dat dit de nieuwe benchmark gaat worden want elke organisator zou dit willen! chapeau en respect voor wat er stond, ik geniet er nog wel even van
