Bottas de lachende derde: "Van mijn kant een goede race"

Toen de stofwolken waren opgetrokken op Monza vond Valtteri Bottas zichzelf terug op de derde plaats. Een knappe prestatie van de Fin aangezien hij als laatste aan de race begon.

Na afloop van de race keek de Fin terug op zijn prestaties. Tegen David Coulthard ,de interviewer van dienst, sprak hij zich uit: "Ik ben blij dat we meer punten hebben dan Red Bull. Van mijn kant was het een goede race. Jammer van Lewis en Max."

Bottas kwam als vierde over de finishlijn maar doordat Sergio Perez een tijdstraf van 5 seconden kreeg werd hij naar het podium gepromoveerd. Hierdoor is Mercedes het team dat profiteert dit weekend. Hij pakte meer punten dan Perez en doordat Hamilton en Verstappen uitvielen mag Mercedes meer punten bijschrijven.
