Bottas verwacht sterke concurrentie in Sotsji: "Dit jaar alles anders"

Aankomend weekend staat de Russische Grand Prix op de planning. Iemand die opvallend succesvol is geweest in Rusland is Valtteri Bottas. De Finse Mercedes-coureur kan dan ook met een redelijke dosis vertrouwen afreizen naar Sotsji.

Bottas won in 2017 zijn eerste race in Rusland om daarna ook in 2020 te mogen juichen in het grootste land ter wereld. Hij eindigde ook met enige regelmaat op het Russische podium, in 2018 en 2019 werd hij tweede op het Sotsji Autodrom.

In de F1 Nation Podcast kijkt de Fin vooruit naar de Russische race: "Ik ga altijd vol vertrouwen naar Sotsji. Het is normaliter een goed circuit voor mij als je kijkt naar resultaten. Ik heb er een paar keer gewonnen en ik ben er altijd goed geweest."

Alles anders

Toch denkt Bottas dat dit jaar alles anders zal zijn. De Fin spreekt zijn zorgen uit: "Als een team zijn we er altijd sterk geweest maar dit jaar is het anders. Het staat niet vast dat we de leiding pakken. Er zal zeker strijd zijn met Red Bull en zelfs McLaren en Ferrari zitten vlakbij. Dus het zal geen makkelijk weekend worden maar natuurlijk kijk ik er wel naar uit."

      Ik hoop dat er idd regen valt dat maakt de race wat meer onvoorspelbaar en spectactulair

      1 regenrace per jaar vind ik meer dan genoeg, en ook super gaaf, maar dan ben ik er wel klaar mee. Formule 1 auto,`s zijn gemaakt om mee te racen op top snelheid, ze zijn niet gemaakt om te stofzuigen en de baan schoon te maken.

      Volgens mij staat de hele paddock blank, meer water kunnen ze niet gebruiken, anders krijgen we een tweede Spa.

      Het is momenteel droog in ieder geval dat is positief, berichten zien er ook wat beter uit, zou zomaar droog weekend kunnen worden

      mwa, ik vind het knap dat externe mensen zo nauwkeurig kunnen zeggen dat die motor zoveel pk's meer heeft dan de andere, alsof die andere de ontwikkeling heeft bevroren.
      Voor hetzelfde geld heeft RBR nu 60 pk meer. Of dat weer uitgesloten?

    Inderdaad alles anders. Sterk circuit voor Bottas, maar nu weet hij vantevoren al dat hij zijne hoogheid moet laten passeren. Maar als het inderdaad het hele weekend nat is, moet Bottas maar een raceverbod krijgen. Hij kan nog geen 100 meter fatsoenlijk in de regen rijden
