Lawson maakt eerste Formule 1-meters bij Young Driver Test

In Abu Dhabi is het daags na de laatste Grand Prix van het seizoen weer tijd voor de traditionele Young Driver Test. Red Bull Racing heeft een enorme berg aan jong talent en heeft dan ook al naar buiten gebracht wie er voor de Red Bull-teams gaan testen.

In de Red Bull-bolide mag Jüri Vips gaan testen. De coureur uit Estland rijdt dit jaar zijn rondjes in de Formule 2 en doet dat niet onaardig. Het zal voor de Est niet allemaal ineens nieuw zijn. Vips mocht immers vorig jaar al proeven aan het echte werk in de laatste Young Driver Test.

DTM-ster

Red Bull heeft ook al bedacht wie de AlphaTauri aan de tand mag voelen. Niemand minder dan Liam Lawson krijgt die eer. Lawson rijdt dit jaar in de Formule 2 en ook in de DTM. In die laatste klasse rijdt de Nieuw-Zeelander een heel sterk seizoen. Sterker nog hij gaat aan de leiding van het kampioenschap. Hij wordt dan ook gezien als een megatalent en mag zijn debuut gaan maken in een officiële Formule 1-test.

Goodwood

Het is overigens niet de eerste keer dat Lawson in een Formule 1-bolide stapt. Eerder dit jaar mocht hij samen met Alexander Albon demo's geven op het Goodwood Festival of Speed. Daar gaf hij een verouderde RB8 de sporen.
