Alonso ziet leeftijd niet als voordeel voor 2022: "Zal meer draaien om performance van de auto"

Volgend jaar krijgt de Formule 1 te maken met een compleet nieuw regelboekje. Voor sommige coureurs is dit hun eerste ervaring met ingrijpende veranderingen in de Formule 1. Dat zou betekenen dat de oudere garde meer profiteert van de nieuwe regels.

De oudste van het stel is vanaf volgend jaar Fernando Alonso. De Spaanse Alpine-coureur wil echter niets weten van een voordeel. Hij spreekt zich uit bij Motorsport.com: "Ik denk niet dat het een verschil zal maken. Om eerlijk te zijn denk ik dat het meer gaat draaien om de performance van de auto, het simulatorwerk en al het werk tijdens de aankomende wintertests."

Alonso verwacht dat het al snel duidelijk zal zijn welke teams zich vooraan zullen melden. Hij weet wat er zal komen: "Dus als het gaat om aanpassingen denk ik dat het geen groot verschil gaat maken. Het is gewoon hard werken of harder werken dan tijdens alle andere winters. Dit omdat we meer tijd moeten besteden in de simulator en samen met het team."
