Verstappen enthousiast over witte Honda-kleurstelling: "Ziet er echt heel cool uit"

Of hij er sneller door gaat rijden valt nog maar te bezien, maar de RB16B van Max Verstappen en Sergio Perez ziet er dit weekend totaal anders uit. Het team eert motorleverancier Honda met een speciale kleurstelling van de Red Bull Racing-bolide. Honda verlaat na dit seizoen de Formule 1, maar blijft nog wel samenwerken met het team uit Milton Keynes.

Max Verstappen werd tijdens de donderdagse persconferentie gevraagd naar zijn mening over de overwegend witte kleurstelling van zijn bolide.

Verstappen: "Het ziet er echt heel cool uit. Als je in de gelegenheid bent om ergens in het jaar een speciale kleurstelling te hebben dan is dat leuk want natuurlijk blijven de auto's qua kleuren door de jaren heen toch wel hetzelfde. Het is goed om dit nu te kunnen vieren met Honda, wat natuurlijk in Japan zou moeten gebeuren, maar helaas gaan we daar niet heen. Natuurlijk hadden we het geweldige idee om toch met deze kleurstelling te rijden en ermee hier in Turkije te rijden. Ik denk echt dat het wit op de auto er heel erg cool uit ziet."

De Grand Prix van Japan zou dit weekend worden gereden, maar werd eerder dit jaar afgelast vanwege de voortslepende coronapandemie. In plaats daarvan komen de teams dit weekend in actie op Istanbul Park in Turkije. De eerste vrije training voor de Turkse Grand Prix begint om 10:30 uur.
