Waar het er lange tijd op leek dat Lewis Hamilton een soort motorfluisteraar was moet hij er in Turkije toch aan geloven. De Brit krijgt een nieuwe ICE en krijgt een tien plaatsen gridstraf. Teambaas Christian Horner ,van concurrent Red Bull, denkt dat er meer speelt.

Bij de afgelopen twee races was Valtteri Bottas de pineut. In zowel Italië als Rusland moest de Finse Mercedes-coureur zijn motor wisselen. Nu is het dus de beurt aan Hamilton. Tegenover Sky Sports spreekt Horner zich uit: "Ze hebben daar wat problemen."

Horner hoopt dan ook dat hij met Red Bull optimaal kan profiteren van de situatie. "Laten we nog maar even afwachten hoe dit weekend loopt. In ieder geval hebben ze die gridstraf gekregen. Hierdoor verkeren wij in een gunstige positie. Bovendien is bij onze coureurs alles vervangen: de MGU-K, de batterij. Alles nieuw."

Ik begrijp nooit zo goed waarom ze dit melden aan de pers. Twee redenen. Als je zelf problemen krijgt klinkt het arrogant. Daarnaast geloof ik dat Mercedes met deze woorden werkelijk niets doet, die worden echt niet nerveus.
