Nieuwe handschoenen bevallen goed: "Merkte geen enkel verschil"

In Turkije werd dit weekend getest met een nieuw kledingstuk. Enkele coureurs reden namelijk rond met nieuwe handschoenen. Deze zouden beter moeten beschermen tegen vuur. De aanleiding van de nieuwe handschoenen is de vuurbal-crash van Romain Grosjean in Bahrein vorig jaar.

Daniel Ricciardo was één van de coureurs die mocht testen met de nieuwe handbeschermers. De Australiër was dik tevreden met zijn nieuwe kledingstuk. Tegenover Reuters spreekt hij zich uit: "Ik heb ze gebruikt maar ik merkte geen enkel verschil."

Volgens race director Michael Masi is het experiment goed verlopen. Masi laat van zich horen bij Reuters: "De eerste feedback die we hebben ontvangen van de coureurs is duidelijk: "Yep, alles goed!" We moeten nog een aantal kleine dingetjes finetunen met de kledingmerken maar die zijn niet onoverkomelijk." Het draaide dan ook om het comfort voor de coureurs, het was allang duidelijk dat de nieuwe handschoentjes zich goed staande kunnen houden in de vlammen.

      dat klopt, was het eerste wat me opviel toen het weekend begon, ik zei "verhip, ze rijden met compleet andere handschoentjes"

      het was even wennen voor mij als fan, de eerste ronden vond ik het echt geen porem, maar later ging het wel

    Best mogelijk dat F1 op dit soort gebieden relevanter voor de voortgang in de wereld is, dan bv op motoren-gebied.
