Glock ziet Verstappen excelleren: "Hij heeft grote sprongen gemaakt"

Over twee maanden weten we het antwoord op het belangrijkste vraagstuk uit de Formule 1: Wie wordt de wereldkampioen? Max Verstappen en Lewis Hamilton zijn in een waanzinnig duel verwikkeld om het kampioenschap. Veel kenners wagen zich steeds vaker aan een voorspelling.

Ook coureur en analist Timo Glock ziet hoe de kampioensrivalen zich gedragen. Bij Sport1 spreekt hij zich uit: "Verstappen heeft het tot nu toe goed gedaan. Hij heeft grote sprongen gemaakt en het is mij duidelijk geworden dat hij veel gecontroleerder is geworden. Twee jaar geleden zou hij in Monza heel anders hebben gereageerd op Lewis. Nu loopt hij weg en denkt hij: kijk maar hoe je eruit komt."

Glock kijkt ook Hamiltons prestaties dit jaar. De Duitser ziet iets opvallends gebeuren bij de Brit: "Lewis laat de buitenwereld nooit zien dat hij onder druk staat. Hij weet dat hij sereen moet zijn. Hij weet waarschijnlijk dat het er vanaf hangt zodra hij zijn helm op doet. Maar hij vindt een weg om er relaxt en cool uit te zien."
