Hamilton weet wat hem te doen staat: "Aankomende zes races punten maximaliseren"

In Austin gaat de titelstrijd tussen Lewis Hamilton en Max Verstappen weer onverminderd hard verder. Beide heren weten wat hen te doen staat. Maar het lijkt er in niets op dat ze zich druk maken. Het enige waar Hamilton zich druk om maakte was of hij wel uit zijn kamer kon komen, hij had zich zelf per ongeluk ingesloten.

De terugkeer van de Formule 1 in Amerika doet de Mercedes-coureur goed. Hij is blij om terug te zijn, zo laat hij weten op de gebruikelijke persconferentie op de donderdag. Hamilton: "Ik had mijzelf opgesloten in mijn kamer, dus ik kon niet naar buiten. Maar toch voelt het goed om hier terug te zijn. We hebben een warm welkom gehad. We hebben altijd een geweldig publiek hier en ook top races."

Communicatie

Ook Hamilton moet niets hebben van de verhalen over een bekoelde relatie tussen hem en Verstappen. Hij reageert dan ook met klare taal als men hier naar vraagt: "We hebben een soort beperkte communicatie. Sommige coureurs gaan meer met elkaar om dan anderen. We zeiden gewoon 'hoi' vorig jaar en dat doen we nog steeds."

Maximaliseren

Maar toch zal hij Verstappen moeten verslaan als hij zijn achtste wereldtitel wil pakken. De Brit weet wat hem te doen staat: "Het is belangrijk om alle races te winnen. We moeten de aankomende zes races onze punten maximaliseren. Er komen momenten dat we hen kunnen verslaan, maar in Mexico zullen ze weer sterk zijn. Er kan veel gebeuren in zes races, we kijken er race voor race naar."

Dat hoort er ook bij met de budgetcap hè. Mercedes is blijkbaar zo aan het beknibbelen dat ze zijn neergestreken in een of ander goedkoop luguber Texaans motel waar je niet zomaar van je kamer afkomt.

Dat soort zaken kun je gerust aan Lewis overlaten, hij weet als geen ander hoe hij in dit soort situaties de zaak op scherp moet zetten.

Mercedes gaat echt nog wel "vieze' truckjes uit de stal halen om beide titels veilig te stellen.

Kijk maar naar de DTM wat daar gebeurde en hier zijn de belangen nog vele malen groter.

Mensen die beweren dat dit niet speelt hebben hun kop 5 meter onder de grond zitten.

  Zolang alles geheel conform de regels gaat is er van vieze trucjes natuurlijk geen sprake. Dat soort domme puberale onzin leeft dan ook vooral in de troebele geesten van door gekleurde brilletjes kijkende figuurtjes die geen flauw idee hebben hoe de sport echt in elkaar zit.
