Bottas ziet geen verandering in snelheid: "Niet het gevoel dat we grote stappen hebben gezet"

De strijd om de wereldtitel gaat dit jaar overduidelijk tussen Lewis Hamilton en Max Verstappen. Het duel is kiezelhard en de twee kemphanen hebben elkaar dan ook al meer dan eens geraakt. Hamiltons Mercedes-teamgenoot Valtteri Bottas ziet echter dat er helemaal geen ruzie is tussen de twee.

De Finse Mercedes-coureur schoof aan bij de gebruikelijke persconferentie op de donderdag. Daar was hij niet te beroerd om even een analyse te geven over de relatie tussen Hamilton en Verstappen: "In Turkije zag ik ze praten en dat zag er vriendelijk uit. Niet anders dan normaal. We zijn hier om met elkaar te concurreren en dan hoef je geen vrienden te zijn. Soms kom je door de adrenaline een beetje boos over. Maar ik zag echt niets geks."

Wat de rest van de wereld wel op viel was dat Mercedes opvallend vlot was in Turkije. Bottas wist die race te winnen maar ziet het zaakje zelf wat anders. Hij ziet geen verschil met eerder: "Ik heb niet het gevoel dat we grote stappen hebben gezet. We zijn vroeg gestopt met de ontwikkelingen en we hebben al een aantal races dezelfde auto. Het verschilt per circuit."
