'Andretti deal gaat niet door'

Vorige week leek het nog zo klaar als een klontje: Andretti zou Sauber overnemen. Afgelopen weekend begon het er echter steeds meer op te lijken dat de deal toch zou afketsen. Nu lijkt het niet doorgaan haast een zekerheidje, de Andretti-deal staat op lossen schroeven.

The Race meldt vandaag dat de deal niet door zal gaan. Het draait weer eens om geld. De vraagprijs van Sauber was compleet anders dan wat Andretti en consorten in hun hoofd hadden. Sauber-eigenaar Finn Rausing wilde naast het overnamegeld ,dat Andretti wel wilde betalen, ook een vijfjarige vooruitbetaalde som van 50 miljoen dollar. Dit om te garanderen dat de Amerikanen in de Formule 1 zouden blijven.

Hier lijkt het probleem te liggen. Volgens The Race wil Andretti deze prijs niet betalen en gaat het feestje niet door. Dit zou betekenen dat Haas het enige Amerikaanse team op de grid blijft. Sauber rijdt overigens al enkele seizoenen rond onder de naam van hoofdsponsor Alfa Romeo.
