Windsor genoot van Verstappen: "Het was prachtig om te zien"

De Amerikaanse overwinning van Max Verstappen maakte veel indruk op fans en kenners. De Nederlandse Red Bull-coureur hield de jagende Lewis Hamilton van zich af en deed dat op banden die veel minder vers waren dan die van zijn concullega. 

In de slotfase van de Amerikaanse Grand Prix op COTA kwam Hamilton aardig dichtbij maar Verstappen liet weer eens zien waarom hij aan de leiding gaat in de WK-stand. De Limburger bezweek niet onder de druk van Hamilton en dat maakte indruk.

Perfect

Ook journalist Peter Windsor heeft genoten van de wedstrijd. Op zijn Youtube-kanaal analyseert hij de race van Verstappen. Windsor: "We zagen Verstappen perfect gebruik maken van alles wat hij tot zijn beschikking had."

Banden

De ervaren Windsor zag dat Verstappen perfect omging met zijn banden. Hij is zeer positief over de Nederlander: "Het team was heel kalm. Net als Lewis moest hij op zijn banden letten maar was hij alsnog heel snel. Max liet zien dat hij die kwaliteiten ook heeft. Het was prachtig om te zien."

    Niet zo verbazingwekkend, want hij is vanaf dag1 al grote fan van de rijstijl van Max (en Lewis).

Terwijl in werkelijkheid Sainz veel later remde en midden in de bocht overstuur had en dat moest opvangen, maar daarbij wel Vettel raakte.

    En ook nu weer opmerkingen dat Hamilton in inferieur materiaal rondrijdt maar door zijn uitstekende bandenmanagement toch Verstappen kon aanvallen. Terug naar de realiteit was Hamilton in de eerste stint constant aan het glijden, bleek de Mercedes op de harde band aanzienlijk sneller te zijn dan de Red Bull en was het juist het bandenmanagement bij Verstappen waardoor Verstappen zijn plek kon vasthouden.

    Dat Hamilton ook een sterke race reed klopt natuurlijk, maar hij had er de beste auto voor en zijn teamgenoot zat zo veelvuldig in gevecht dat die alleen sporadisch de kans had om te laten zien hoe snel die wagen was.

    Dan ook nog zo'n opmerking dat Verstappen zijn banden in de 2e stint over de "cliff" waren, terwijl Verstappen aan het eind van die 2e stint zijn persoonlijk snelste ronde reed op dat moment.

    Windsor weet het altijd leuk te vertellen en ik denk ook wel dat hij er een behoorlijke goede kijk op heeft, maar helaas ontbreekt het aan realisme in zijn videos.

      Helemaal mee eens, Mustfeed. Ik luister niet meer naar zijn video's zeker niet sinds hij zich liet sponsoren door die ZZ top figuur. Die periode mocht hij niets goed zeggen over Verstappen of Red Bull.

      Maar al jaren hangt hij het goed zijn van een rijder op hoe smooth een rijder door de bocht gaat. Daar oreert hij dan een uur over en vervolgens begint hij nog wat over banden sparen. En dat doet hij bij alle rijders eigenlijk.

      En laat me raden. Hij zal een dergelijk verhaal ook nu hebben gehouden. En waarschijnlijk ook over Hamilton en Leclerc.
