Ook in Mexico worden rondetijden onder dubbel geel geschrapt

In Austin werd er twee weken terug geëxperimenteerd met het schrappen van rondetijden die onder dubbele gele vlaggen werden gereden in de trainingen en kwalificatie. De proef is de wedstrijdleiding goed bevallen want ook in Mexico zal deze regel gelden aankomend weekend.

De nieuwe regel werd in Austin in het leven geroepen nadat Fernando Alonso in Turkije ontsnapte aan een straf toen hij te snel reed tijdens dubbele gele vlaggen. In Texas werd het systeem dus voor het eerst gebruikt en het beviel Race Director Michael Masi wel.

De Australiër was tevreden. Tegenover Motorsport.com legt Masi de situatie uit: "Het werkte de eerste keer zeer zeker. We hebben het slechts één keer hoeven gebruiken, volgens mij in VT3 met Kimi.  Er was dus maar één scenario. Dus in Mexico gaan we ermee verder. We hebben achter de schermen nog een paar processen lopen om het systeem te versnellen."

      Niet geheel correct. Max kreef een grid penalty. Als alleen die rondetijd was geschrapt, had hij alsnog pole position gehad want ook zijn eerste ronde in Q3 was de snelste geweest.

    An sich een goede regel. Die mag erin blijven. Als er dubbel geel is, behoor je zo veel van je gas af te gaan dat je toch geen goede tijd kunt zetten. Door gewoon de rondetijden dus te schrappen voorkom je dat coureurs menen dat ze toch snel kunnen gaan en voorkom je potentieel gevaarlijke situaties en vooral een hoop discussie.

      maar wat nou als je snel onderweg bent ,al bij bocht 13 rijdt, in bocht 5 crasht iemand en er word dubbel geel gezwaaid. zoals ik het begrijp ben je je ronde dan ook kwijt terwijl het achter je gebeurt.

      Het gaat dus alleen om wanneer je door de zone rijdt waar dubbel geel hangt. Je bent je ronde dus niet kwijt als er ergens achter je wat gebeurt.
