Perez en Verstappen wisselden van achtervleugel na VT3

Het hele weekend waren de Red Bulls ijzersterk. Maar in de kwalificatie moesten Verstappen en Perez hun meerdere erkennen in de wagens van concurrent Mercedes. Sergio Perez baalde als een stekker maar de Mexicaan heeft wel een opvallende uitleg over iets wat alles omgooide.

Perez miste na de derde training het gevoel met zijn auto. Hij legt het uit bij Motorsport.com: "De auto was niet hetzelfde na VT3 omdat we de achtervleugel moesten veranderen. Maar ook omdat we toen het één en ander moesten veranderen."

Die vleugelwissel kwam niet uit de lucht vallen. Opvallend genoeg wisselde Perez van vleugel met zijn teamgenoot: "Max had een probleem met zijn achtervleugel in VT3 en ze gaven mij zijn vleugel. Ik weet niet wat het is maar sinds Q1 voelde de auto ineens compleet anders."

Inderdaad, het klinkt zoals toen Vettel de voorvleugel van Webber kreeg nadat hij de zijne had kapot gereden op een curb in Silverstone in 2010. Met het verschil dat Perez er niet zo hard kan over klagen, want hij is natuurlijk gecontracteerd als duidelijke tweede rijder.
