Zaterdag heerste er nog bittere teleurstelling bij Red Bull. Teambaas Christian Horner was boos op AlphaTauri-coureur Yuki Tsunoda omdat de Japanner de snelle rondes van Verstappen en Perez had verpest. Maar na de succesvolle Mexicaanse Grand Prix streek Horner over zijn hart.

Horner toonde zich vergevingsgezind en trok zijn kiezelharde kritiek in. Hij sprak met de in Mexico aanwezige pers: "Nu we alles hebben kunnen overzien is het eerlijk om te zeggen dat Yuki beter gecoacht had moeten worden door zijn pitmuur op zaterdag."

De Brit begrijpt ook wel hoe de situatie tot stand was gekomen: "De afloop was vervelend, ook omdat hij alleen op de baan was om Gasly een tow te geven. Uiteindelijk pakte alles helemaal goed uit want een start vanaf de tweede startrij was helemaal niet nadelig voor ons " Verstappen won immers de race en Sergio Perez pakte de derde plaats.
