Perez blijft niet hangen in feestvreugde: "Moeten gelijk doorschakelen"

Sergio Perez ontketende afgelopen weekend een waar volksfeest in thuisland Mexico. Echter kan de Red Bull-coureur niet te lang blijven genieten van zijn puike prestatie. De Mexicaan moet immers dit weekend al weer racen in Brazilië. Hij heeft in ieder geval weer zijn volledige focus te pakken.

In de preview van zijn team Red Bull Racing is hij zeer professioneel. Perez is niet te lang blijven hangen in de feestvreugde: "Het was een fantastisch resultaat in mijn thuisland. Maar we moeten gelijk doorschakelen naar de volgende race in de triple header."

Pushen

Perez weet zelf ook dat zijn team momenteel zeer sterk voor de dag komt. Hij spreekt zich erover uit: "We gaan naar Brazilië en als team moeten we keihard blijven pushen. We bevinden ons in zo'n sterke positie en het seizoen nadert zijn einde."

Constructeurstitel

De prestaties van Red Bull zijn momenteel zo goed dat ze concurrent Mercedes tot op één puntje zijn genaderd in de strijd om de constructeurstitel. Het maakt Perez nog niet veel uit: "Momenteel maakt dat niets uit. Wat uitmaakt is de eindstand. Daarom blijven we pushen tot het seizoen voorbij is."

Nu nog een 1-2 finish samen met Max. Dat zou voor het eerst zijn voor Red Bull sinds Maleisië 2016. Het was al bijna gelukt in Bakoe.

Mercedes is het dit jaar ook nog niet gelukt om een 1-2 te scoren trouwens, alleen nota bene McLaren in Monza.
