Hamilton doet een regendans: "Misschien kunnen we dan roet in het eten gooien"

Lewis Hamilton weet dat hem een zware taak staat te wachten in Brazilië. De Britse Mercedes-coureur weet dat concurrent Max Verstappen dit weekend weer de favoriet is in zijn Red Bull. Dat terwijl de Engelsman de puntjes hard nodig heeft in de titelstrijd.

Hamilton verwacht dan ook niet dat Mercedes sterker zal zijn dan Red Bull. Tegenover de media-afdeling van de Formule 1 is hij zeer duidelijk: "Ik denk dat ze het hele weekend veel sterker gaan zijn. Ze zijn momenteel op elk vlak sneller. Het is niet zenuwslopend, het is gewoon een feit. Het is wat het is dus draait om het maximaliseren van de auto."

Tijdens het interview druppelde het ligt en Hamilton hoop dan ook dat er een buitje gaan vallen dit weekend. De Brit ziet het als een voordeel: "Als we dit soort weersomstandigheden hebben kunnen we misschien roet in het eten gooien. Maar ze liggen momenteel een beetje voor op ons."

      Tussen de regen en de regels door lees ik dat Mercedes helemaal top voorbereid is en dat ze besloten hebben om vol voor de underdogpositie te gaan.

      Check sky even. De weekend warmup. Zeggen ze interessante dingen over de kansen van Verstappen en Hamilton.

      Ik heb ingezet op Bottas. Die betaalt meer uit. Maar ben wel bang dat ik mijn pieternellen kwijt ben.

      als Max wint dan is het ook goed. Lewis of ax moet winnen. Bottas is ook wel interessant, want mocht het tot een clash komen dan gaat het tussen hem en Checo.

      toen had Mercedes een wagen die 1 seconde sneller was dan RB. Hele scheve vergelijking. Maar ja: Lewis was toen ook goed.Het was echter Max die de show stal.

      Nou. Toen het er nog om ging was Hamilton het snelst eigenlijk. Verstappen op de tweede plek zette de snelste ronde en vervolgens reageerde Hamilton direct met daarop de snelste ronde. Op het eind deed het er niet meer toe.

      Maar dat jaar was de Mercedes echt veel beter dan de rest.

      Dat laatste bedenkend denk ik dan toch dat het een voordeel voor Verstappen zal zijn.

    Sommigen vergissen zich. In 2016 was Lewis de baas. Maar Max verstomde de F1-wereld met zijn actie buitenom in de plensende regen. Samen met zijn Blanchimont-actie, toch wel één van de mooiste uit de recente geschiedenis. Vanaf die dag was iedereen unaniem, die Max gaat geschiedenis schrijven. Hopelijk met het juiste team, maar helaas...
