Daniel Ricciardo denkt dat McLaren de strijd met Ferrari aan kan in Brazilië

Daniel Ricciardo zet zijn McLaren zaterdag op Interlagos op de negende startplek, schuin achter zijn teamgenoot Lando Norris. Nadat McLaren de derde plaats in het WK verloor aan Ferrari tijdens de vorige race in Mexico, lijkt het team uit Woking ook dit weekend in Brazilië niet in staat om het tempo van de rode bolides te volgen.

Na de kwalificatie zegt Ricciardo vrijdagavond: "Vanmorgen leek het alsof Ferrari vrij ver weg was maar wij zitten er maar een tiende achter. Ik denk dat we redelijk okay zijn."

Sainz en Leclerc kwalificeerden als vijfde en zesde en hebben dus een volledig oranje zicht wanneer de heren vanaf de startopstelling in hun spiegels kijken.

Ricciardo wordt gevraagd of het mogelijk is om de McLarens voor de Ferrari's te krijgen dit weekend: "Vanochtend reden we niet op de zachte band maar onze snelheid leek een beetje gek, maar ik denk het wel. Het is een relatief lange race hier; we moeten 24 rondjes rijden en dat is nog best veel hier en dat betekent wel wat voor de bandenslijtage", besluit Ricciardo.
