Vasseur gooit met modder naar Giovinazzi: "Niet onder de indruk van deze houding"

Deze week werd bekend dat Antonio Giovinazzi de Formule 1 na dit seizoen gaat verlaten. De Italiaan krijgt geen nieuw contract bij Alfa Romeo en wordt volgend seizoen vervangen door het Chinese talent Guanyu Zhou. Het vertrek hing al eventjes in de lucht maar toch reageerde Giovinazzi gepikeerd op het nieuws.

In een heel duidelijke post op social media was de Italiaan heel erg direct. Hij schreef het volgende: "De Formule 1 draait om talent, de auto's, het risico en snelheid. Maar als geld regeert kan het ook zeer meedogenloze wereld zijn zijn."

Niet onder de indruk

De digitale woorden van Giovinazzi vielen niet bepaald lekker bij zijn huidige teambaas Frédéric Vasseur. De Fransman sprak zich uit bij Autosport: "Eerlijk gezegd ben ik niet onder de indruk van deze houding. Ook omdat het team hem de kans heeft gegeven om drie seizoenen in de Formule 1 te rijden. Alfa Romeo heeft hem de kans gegeven om drie seizoenen in de Formule 1 te rijden. Vrachtladingen aan coureurs zouden er van dromen."

Nieuwe uitdaging

Giovinazzi hoeft zich in ieder geval niet lang te vervelen, de Italiaan heeft een contract getekend in de Formule E. Vasseur vindt dan ook dat zijn huidige coureur zich in de toekomst daarop moet focussen: "Nu krijgt hij andere uitdagingen. Hij zal het goed willen doen in die andere uitdagingen en misschien komt hij in de toekomst terug in de Formule 1. Maar het is een kleine wereld en we moeten professioneel blijven."

tja ontegenzeggelijk heeft Vasseur gelijk, maar ook Gio heeft wel een punt de F1 verzand zo in nogal wat Coureurs die een flinke zak geld meenemen maar Ook Gio moet weten dat di van alle tijden is! behoudens extreem rijken die gelijk de hele stal opkopen zoals Stroll want dat is toch wel een extreem voorbeeld .

Ik heb Vasseur hoog zitten de man is rustig en beschaafd dus de keuze om met Zhou in zee te gaan kan ook komen door meerdere factoren , na 3 jaar kunnen we ook niet zeggen dat Gio extreem gegroeid is wel iets natuurlijk maar ik ben van mening dat Zhou daar niet ver vanaf zal zitten

  Ook bij getalenteerde rijders gaat het om geld, namelijk de positie in het constructeurskampioenschap en de sponsoropbrengst die gaat stijgen als de resultaten goed zijn. Het hoge salaris van de topcoureurs wordt daarmee ruimschoots gecompenseerd.

  En Antonio lijkt niet bij machte om met zijn prestaties meer toe te voegen dan de 26 miljoen die Zhou bij aanvang al inschuift.

Vasseur had zich wel wat groter mogen opstellen. Zelfs een pantoffeldiertje zou snappen dat de woorden van Giovinazzi van een teleurgesteld coureur komen. Beetje kinderachtig dat daar geen ruimte voor is.

  helemaal mee eens eigenlijk. Waarom zou Antonio niet wat ruimte mogen hebben om teleurgesteld te zijn. Jammer inderdaad dat zo'n man als Vasseur daar dan weer met een negatieve reactie op in meent te moeten springen

  Een coureur met ambitie is ook snel teleurgesteld als die in de reserve Ferrari stapt.
  Dat team is gewoon een goede stap om de F1 uit te gaan. Ook wel balen als je daar dan debuteerde…
