Gasly verrassing in de woestijn: "Denk dat we het qua balans zelfs beter kunnen doen"

De grote verrassing van de vrijdag in Qatar? Pierre Gasly. De Franse AlphaTauri-coureur reed in zowel de eerste als de tweede vrije training de tweede tijd en was daarmee Max Verstappen en Lewis Hamilton allebei te snel af. Hij kan dus terugkijken op een topdag.

Gasly verscheen tevreden voor de camera's van Sky Sports: "Het was een heel erg goede vrijdag. In de auto voelt het niet zo makkelijk maar de rondetijden zien er echt heel erg goed uit. Ik denk dat we het qua balans zelfs beter kunnen doen morgen dus daar werken we vannacht aan."

De enkelvoudig Grand Prix-winnaar durft dan ook een beetje realistisch te dromen op het Losail International Circuit: "Ons doel is vanzelfsprekend om zover mogelijk op de startgrid te staan. Maar we zijn natuurlijk realistisch. We zien er momenteel zeer competitief uit. Dus we hopen dat we kunnen strijden met Ferrari en McLaren."
