Alonso geniet op Losail: "Vrolijke dag voor een vrolijke man"

Fernando Alonso heeft in zijn lange carrière al op zeer veel circuits gereden maar het Losail International Circuit was ook een nieuwe locatie voor de Spanjaard. De Alpine-coureur moest duidelijk eventjes inkomen want hij wist zich in allebei de trainingen niet in de top tien te rijden.

Na afloop was hij toch zeer positief over zijn vrijdag in het zand van Qatar. Voor de camera's van Sky Sports sprak hij zich uit: "Dit circuit is echt heel erg fijn om te rijden. Ik houd van de lay-out. De bochtencombinaties geven je echt het gevoel dat je het maximale uit het potentie van je Formule 1-auto weet te halen. Ik heb van elke ronde genoten."

Ondanks de resultaten was hij wel in zijn nopjes: "De levels van grip waren echt goed vandaag, vooral in VT2. De auto voelde ook solide in allebei de sessies. We gaan zien wat we morgen kunnen doen en we moeten alles evalueren vandaag. Maar het plan is om morgen Q3 te behalen. Over het algemeen een vrolijke dag voor een vrolijke man."
