Räikkönen steunt Giovinazzi: "Hopelijk krijgt hij nog een kans"

Afgelopen week werd duidelijk dat Antonio Giovinazzi's Alfa Romeo-avontuur er na dit seizoen op zit. de Italiaan krijgt geen contractverlening en wordt vervangen door de Chinees Guanyu Zhou. Toch hoopt de Italiaan dat hij ooit zijn comeback mag gaan maken in de koningsklasse van de autosport.

Ook Giovinazzi's huidige teamgenoot Kimi Räikkönen deelt die hoop. De ervaren Fin stopt na dit seizoen maar ziet dat het liefste niet gebeuren voor Giovinazzi. Räikkönen wordt geciteerd door Racefans: "Hij is een aardige jongen. We kennen elkaar al een tijdje, sinds de Ferrari dagen."

Hij helpt zijn teamgenoot dan ook hopen. Räikkönen is voor zijn doen zeer uitgesproken: "Hopelijk krijgt hij op een dag nog een kans in de Formule 1. Er zijn niet veel auto's en er zijn zeker weten meer mensen die de Formule 1 in proberen te komen, maar laten we het hopen."
