Pijlsnelle Alonso is weer tevreden: "Het was fantastisch"

Fernando Alonso liet in de kwalificatie in Qatar maar weer eens zien het nog lang niet verleerd te zijn. De Spaanse Alpine-coureur had de vaart er goed inzitten en kwalificeerde zich knap als vijfde op het Losail International Circuit. Vanzelfsprekend was de tweevoudig wereldkampioen ook in zijn nopjes.

Na zijn fantastische resultaat in de kwalificatie maakte Alonso een rondje langs de microfoons van de internationale media. Bij Sky Sports was hij een tevreden man: "Het was fantastisch. De auto doet het al het hele weekend zeer goed. Sommige circuits lijken perfect te passen bij ons pakket en dit is er een van."

Het feit dat de kwalificatie in de avond werd verreden was volgens Alonso ook zeer handig. De Spanjaard legt uit hoe de vork hier in de steel steekt: "De baan is koel in de avonduren. Dat helpt tegen het oververhitten van de banden. Je hoeft er dan niet op te letten en dat is goed voor een coureur."
