Gasly van hero naar zero: "Het werkte niet vandaag en dat is jammer"

Pierre Gasly mocht de Grand Prix van Qatar als tweede starten na gridstraffen van Max Verstappen en Valtteri Bottas. De Fransman leek op voorhand voor een verrassing te kunnen gaan zorgen maar het liep net wat anders voor de AlphaTauri-man. Hij reed een miserabele race en kwam slechts als elfde over de finish.

Na afloop verscheen er dan ook een teleurgestelde Gasly bij de internationale pers. Hij zag dat zowel hij als teammaat Tsunoda tegenvielen. Bij de media-afdeling van de Formule 1 sprak hij zich uit: "Het is een frustrerende dag. Zowel Yuki als ik startten in de top tien maar we vielen tijdens de race heel ver terug. Ik gaf alles wat in de auto zat maar we waren gewoon te langzaam."

Bij de start verloor Gasly al snel zijn positie aan Fernando Alonso en dat was het begin van het einde. "Zelfs bij de start kon ik Alonso niet bijhouden. Dus we probeerden een agressieve tweestopper maar de pace was er gewoon weg niet. Het werkte vandaag niet en dat is jammer."

Ik denk dat de beste optie is om sneller te kwalificeren en sneller te racen ;-)
Ik zet mijn open deur nu weer dicht :-)
