Vrouw Bernie Ecclestone kandidaat voor belangrijke FIA-functie

Bernie Ecclestone is al enkele jaren niet meer betrokken bij de Formule 1. Sinds Liberty Media de eigenaar van de sport is heeft de invloedrijke Brit eigenlijk geen officiële rol meer binnen de koningsklasse van de autosport. Toch kan hij het niet laten om soms zijn mening met de buitenwereld te delen.

Het lijkt erop dat hij niet het enige lid van de familie is die graag een belangrijke functie in de autosport gaat bekleden. Zijn huidige vrouw Fabiana Ecclestone is nu namelijk officieel kandidaat voor een belangrijke rol binnen de FIA.

President

In december kiest de autosportbond namelijk zijn nieuwe president. Huidig president Jean Todt neemt na dit jaar afscheid als grote man van de federatie en dus moet er een opvolger komen. Er zijn twee kandidaten voor deze belangrijke functie: Mohammed Ben Sulayem en Graham Stoker.

Zuid-Amerika

Mevrouw Ecclestone is onderdeel van het team van Ben Sulayem. Ze is een kandidaat voor de functie van Vice-President voor de sport in Zuid-Amerika. Mocht ze worden verkozen dan zou dat betekenen dat ze in de voetsporen van haar man treed met een belangrijke functie binnen de autosport.

    Opmerkelijk. Hoe ik dit moet inschatten als in toevoeging of juist niet.. Nee, ik kan dit niet inschatten wat zij kan bijdragen. Afwachten dus.

      in principe weinig aangezien ze in feite het verlengstuk is (vooralsnog) van good old Bernie en dus principieel zelf weinig zal toevoegen buiten wat Bernie heer ingeeft, althans zo zie ik het!

      Ja, maar stel dat Bernies spreekwoordelijke arm hierdoor via z'n vrouw weer wat langer wordt in de f1. Ook dat weet ik niet of ik dat iets goeds vind eigenlijk. Mss wel. Ik weet het niet.
