Ralf Schumacher ziet motorwissel Verstappen niet gebeuren: "Ik kreeg net een telefoontje"

Dit weekend zullen Max Verstappen en Lewis Hamilton opnieuw de degens kruisen. De twee kemphanen geven hun extreem spannende titelgevecht een vervolg op het gloednieuwe Jeddah Corniche Circuit in Saoedi-Arabië. Hamilton zal daar in ieder geval weer de beschikking hebben over zijn 'raket'-motor.

Er gingen ook verhalen rond dat Red Bull en Honda zouden overwegen ook Verstappen te voorzien van een nieuwe krachtbron. Bij een ICE-wissel zou hij immers slechts een vijf plaatsen-gridstraf krijgen. Maar het is de vraag of dit wel een goed idee is op een nieuw circuit.

Telefoontje

Ralf Schumacher denkt dat het niet gaat gebeuren. De Duitse oud-coureur zegt het zelfs zeker te weten. Bij de Duitse tak van Sky Sports spreekt hij zich uit: "Er waren geruchten dat Red Bull een motorwissel zou overwegen. Grappig genoeg kreeg ik net een telefoontje: ze gaan geen motor wisselen dit weekend."

Na dit weekend

Volgens de zesvoudig racewinnaar zou het ook helemaal niet handig zijn om dit uit te voeren in het bloedhete Jeddah. Schumacher: "Je wilt profiteren van je voorsprong en niet vijf plaatsen verliezen. Je kan misschien reageren na dit weekend. Dat is momenteel ook het plan."

    want Ralf is wel de toegevoegde waarde die je moet bellen als je een ICE gaat vervangen.

    Deze race zullen ze proberen het uiterste uit de motor halen in de hoop dat deze race gewonnen wordt. Dan de laatste race de nieuwe motor inzetten om naar de 2e of 3e positie te cruisen. Dan is het kampioenschap voor de coureurs in ieder geval binnen.

      Als ze de vorige race gewonnen hadden hoefden ze minder risico te nemen. Maar de voorsprong dit weekend kwijtraken maakt hun positie te kwetsbaar.
