Wolff leeft mee met concurrent Red Bull: "Kan mij in hun schoenen verplaatsen"

Max Verstappen leek gisteren op weg naar een fabuleuze pole position in Jeddah. Maar in de allerlaatste bocht ging het mis en kuste De Nederlander de muur met zijn achterwiel. De ophanging brak en het Mercedes kreeg de eerst startrij in hun schoot geworpen.

Direct na het moment greep de gehele Red Bull-pitbox naar hun hoofd. Bij Mercedes leek men haast om te vallen van verbazing. Teambaas Toto Wolff leefde mee met zijn concullega's. Bij Auto, Motor und Sport sprak hij zich uit: "Red Bull heeft een dominant pakket hier. Ik kan mijzelf hier in hun schoenen verplaatsen."

Iedereen leek er al rekening mee te houden dat Verstappen de eerste startplek ging verzilveren. Zijn incident in de laatste bocht zorgde echter voor enorm veel ongeloof. Het wordt zelfs al omgedoopt als één van de beste rondjes die nooit is afgemaakt. Ook Wolff zag dat Verstappen een kunststukje aan het creëren was: "Max was bezig met een fantastische ronde. Hij kon een halve seconde sneller zijn dan Lewis."

Die Wolff is echt de beroerste niet, al zal dat door een oranje brilletje bekeken er waarschijnlijk toch iets anders uit zien. :)

    Jaja, Toto die meeleeft, dat vingertje in Brazilië vertelt een heel ander verhaal en is dit gewoon een zout in de wonden wrijf momentje als een steek onder water

      toto is ook maar een mens natuurlijk heeft hij zijn streken maar uiteindelijk kan ook wel hij beseffen hoe verschrikkelijk dit is. ik denk dat iedereen wel medelijden heeft met verstappen op dat moment. de slag is verloren maar de oorlog gelukkig nog niet, max weet wat hij moet doen nu.

      Klopt @Macgyver, medelijden van je tegenstander krijgen is in topsport als een klap in je gezicht.

    In Monza stond Max op pole terwijl Mercedes veel sneller was. Het was niet zo 'dramatisch al gisteren, maar misschien nog wel pijnlijker omdat naast de slechte sprintrace van Lewis ook Bottas nog eens achteruit moest.

    Lewis moet ook oppassen want als hij nog 1 reprimande erbij krijgt dit seizoen dan volgt er een 10 plekken gridstraf ( bij 3 x reprimande dus)
