Horner heeft respect voor titelgevecht: "Dat geldt ook voor Lewis"

Vandaag schrijven Max Verstappen en Lewis Hamilton het voorlaatste hoofdstuk van hun titelduel dit jaar. De twee kemphanen gaan in Saoedi-Arabië weer vol de strijd met elkaar aan en zullen daarvoor alle benodigde middelen gebruiken. Ook hun teams Red Bull Racing en Mercedes doen daar gezellig aan mee.

Alhoewel het er soms op lijkt dat de twee teams elkaars bloed wel kunnen drinken, is er wel enorm wederzijds respect. Red Bull-teambaas Christian Horner heeft enorm veel waardering voor het stevige duel. Bij de BBC spreekt hij zich uit: "Dat geldt natuurlijk ook voor Lewis. Dit gevecht doet mij denken aan dat duel tussen Senna en Prost. Het zijn verschillende generaties die met elkaar vechten tot de limiet."

Horner en zijn manschappen geven echter wel alles voor de overwinning. Het feit dat Mercedes dat ook doet maakt hem niets uit. De concurrent houdt de slangen voor de pitstop-apparatuur niet meer aan de kant. Dat kan men als onsportief opvatten maar Horner haalt zijn schouders erover op. "Het is gewoon onderdeel van het gevecht om de wereldtitel."
