Ricciardo twijfelt over aanpassingen Abu Dhabi: "Waarschijnlijk hetzelfde"

Het Yas Marina Circuit in Abu Dhabi is de afgelopen maand flink aangepakt om ervoor te zorgen dat de coureurs meer kunnen inhalen. Gisteren maakten de heren coureurs voor het eerst kennis met het vernieuwde circuit. De reacties waren wisselend, niet iedereen was even positief.

McLaren-coureur Daniel Ricciardo werd na afloop van de twee trainingen gevraagd naar de inhaalmogelijkheden gevraagd. Tegenover de internationale media was hij weifelend: "Ik weet het niet. Ik had vandaag een beetje verkeer, ik zat achter wat andere auto's. Ik weet niet of het makkelijker is. Het is waarschijnlijk nog hetzelfde."

Maar de aanpassingen hebben de coureurs wel meer lol gebracht. Lachebek Ricciardo beaamd dat: "Het was denk ik wel leuker. Ik vind bocht 9 heel erg leuk. Dat is eerst soort grote bocht dus dat is leuk. Bocht vijf is nogal tricky maar dat was hij eerst ook al. Ik vind de nieuwe hotelsectie wel leuker. Ik mis de oude voorlaatste bocht. Ik denk dat die eerst een echte bocht was, nu is het simpelweg vol gas. Maar goed, meer positieve punten dan negatieve punten."

Vraag me af welk licht deze aanpassingen heeft doorgevoerd om het inhalen te bevorderen...

Achter elk recht stuk ligt nu een snelle bocht, zelfs de hairpin is nu te breed en snel. Resultaat = geen inhaalacties. Volgend jaar gewoon weer naar de oude layout, dit is 3x niks.
