Horner wil niet naar concurrentie kijken: "Moeten ons focussen op onszelf"

Max Verstappen en Lewis Hamilton gaan vandaag hun enorm spannende titelstrijd beslissen. Verstappen heeft het voordeel van de pole position en is op voorhand toch de favoriet voor de wereldtitel. Toch zijn ze bij Red Bull Racing redelijk op hun hoede voor concurrent Lewis Hamilton.

Hamilton start vanaf de tweede startplaats en start de race op een andere band dan de Nederlander. Hamilton is over de jaren zeer succesvol geweest op het Yas Marina Circuit in Abu Dhabi. Maar Verstappen won vorig seizoen de wedstrijd in de Emiraten.

Hoofd erbij houden

Red Bull-teambaas Christian Horner houdt een slag om de arm. De Brit spreekt zich uit in het persbericht uit: "We moeten ons hoofd erbij houden en morgen onze beste race rijden."

Horner weet ook dat de concurrentie zich op zijn gemak voelt op het circuit in het Midden-Oosten. De Brit spreekt zich uit: "We weten hoe goed Mercedes is op deze baan. Het is één van de circuits waar Lewis het beste heeft gepresteerd in het verleden. We moeten ons dus focussen op onszelf en hopelijk hebben we genoeg gedaan om de race te winnen."
