Ricciardo kan wel leven met beperkte technische kennis: "Ik vind het wel goed"

Daniel Ricciardo rijdt al jarenlang mee in de top van de Formule 1. De Australiër bestuurt de allersnelste en de meest technische automobielen van de planeet. Toch heeft de goedlachse Ricciardo amper een idee hoe zijn auto in elkaar steekt. Hij is niet te beroerd om dit ruimschoots toe te geven.

De Australiër is weer terug in zijn moederland. Daar spreekt hij zijn vrienden en familie weer. Hij is ook niet te beroerd om in zijn thuisland even te babbelen met de lokale media. In de podcast Gypsy Tales bespreekt hij zijn beperkte technische kennis: "Het is grappig want mijn maten zeggen: 'Gast je rijdt in extreem dure auto's met de meest geavanceerde technologie in de wereld. Je weet nog maar net hoe je een bougie vervangt. Je weet nog net hoe je een band kan verwisselen!' Ik vind dat wel leuk."

Druk eraf

Ricciardo heeft er echter geen enkel probleem mee. Hij vindt het zelfs wel fijn dat zijn technische waardigheden ondermaats zijn: "Ik vind het wel goed dat ik niet zoveel weet. Ik vind het fijn om mijn energie meer te investeren in het racen. Het zorgt ervoor dat ik het allemaal wat met minder zorgen kan benaderen en ik denk dat dat mij helpt om beter te rijden, te presteren en de druk eraf te halen."

      Dat dus..........en bij Renault bleek hij de auto niet te kunnen ontwikkelen vanwege die beperkte technische kennis.........miskoop voor Renault.

    Je hebt twee soorten coureurs. De Michael Schumachers, Max Verstappens, Kimi Raikkönnens en Carols Sainzen die veel tijd in de fabriek door brengen en donders goed weten hoe een auto technisch in elkaar steekt en rest die nooit kampioen werd. En ja, ik weet het Carlos is nog geen kampioen, maar zijn aanpassingsvermogen blijf ik indrukwekkend vinden

      Dus Rosberg, Button, Hill, Villeneuve, Hamilton hebben allemaal veel technische kennis van auto's? Lijkt mij niet echt nodig om wereldkampioen te worden. 2e jaar bij Renault was de auto trouwens al duidelijk beter. Dat heeft dan ook met feedback te maken en de kennis van de engineers.
