Leclerc vreest nieuwe banden: "Maakt het nogal tricky"

Aankomend seizoen gaan er nieuwe regels gelden in de Formule 1. Niet alleen de auto's veranderen er door, ook de banden ondergaan een ware metamorfose. De banden worden groter en de heren coureurs zullen opnieuw moeten aanvoelen hoe ze moeten omgaan met het nieuwe rubber.

Voor het team van Ferrari kunnen de nieuwe regels zomaar goed gaan uitpakken. De legendarische Italiaanse renstal kende de afgelopen seizoenen tegenvallende resultaten en wil daarom profiteren. Daarvoor moeten hun coureurs wel eerst goed wegwijs worden gemaakt met het nieuwe rubber van bandenleverancier Pirelli. 

Tricky

Ferrari-coureur Charles Leclerc heeft al kennis gemaakt met de nieuwe banden. De Monegask moet overduidelijk wennen en heeft zo zijn zorgen. In gesprek met de officiële site van de Formule 1 geeft hij tekst en uitleg: "Het maakt het nogal tricky. Ik bedoel, het is uitdagend voor ons als coureurs en ik denk dat het nog uitdagender wordt voor ons om over het algemeen met deze auto's te rijden."

Hoge snelheid

Leclerc weet dat er ook heus wel voordelen kleven aan de nieuwe compounds. Maar hij blijft bij zijn standpunt, hij ziet nog steeds wat beren op de weg. "Ze hebben waarschijnlijk een groter window om in te werken en onder koude omstandigheden voelen ze best goed. Maar het is nogal tricky als je op hoge snelheden met de auto gaat rijden."

      @Jimmy: Het is inderdaad tricky met al die beren op de weg; aan de andere kant heeft ie dan wel geluk dat zijn window groter is, zodat hij ze beter kan zien en ze kan ontwijken, toch?

    Daar zijn de tests voor Charles. Denk niet in problemen maar in oplossingen. Dit maakt het alleen maar leuk.
    De situatie waar de gewone mensen tegenwoordig in zitten is tricky.

    Is er hier nog een bandenexpert die mij een en ander over de nieuwe regels mbt de banden kan vertellen?

    Ze hebben minder wang, dus daar verliezen ze een hoop demping voor de wagen. Wat ik bijvoorbeeld vreselijk lelijk vind aan zo'n FE wagen is dat ze over het wegdek stuiteren. Ziet er niet uit en hoop niet dat de F1-wagens er ook zo uit gaan zien. Iemand hier een idee over?

    En ze zijn groter? In diameter of in de breedte? Of allebei?

    Ten slotte; gaan we nou info krijgen op die wheel-covers of is dat toekomstmuziek?

      Geen idee, er gaan wel sterke geruchten dat we de pull rod ophanging terug gaan zien aan de voorkant bij de 2022 Ferrari, dat mag wel een verrasing genoemd worden, de laatste die dat had was de F14T uit 2014.

      De pull rod.. Daar hield Ferrari als enige toch, volledig overtuigd, nog jarenlang aan vast terwijl alle andere teams geswitcht waren naar de push?

      Met een lage neus is de pull rod wel logischer natuurlijk.

      McLaren heeft ook de pull rod zag scarborough bij een foto. Dit zal wel bij iedereen zo zijn denk ik dan maar als Ferrari die ook heeft.
