'Jean Todt krijgt toch geen adviseursrol bij Ferrari'

Het leek er eventjes op dat Jean Todt na zijn termijn als FIA-president gelijk kon beginnen aan een nieuwe baan. De ervaren Fransman werd gelinkt aan een comeback bij het team van Ferrari als een soort adviseur. Todt was als teambaas zeer belangrijk voor de Italiaanse renstal in de Schumacher-jaren.

Todt zou zich kunnen opmaken voor een soort Niki Lauda-rol bij Ferrari. Lauda vervulde jarenlang de rol van een soort speciaal adviseur bij Mercedes en was op die manier belangrijk voor de Duitse ploeg. Todt werd lang in verband gebracht met een vergelijkbare rol bij Ferrari maar het lijkt er nu op dat dit niet gaat gebeuren.

Elkann

Volgens de Italiaanse krant Corriere della Sera gaat het er namelijk niet van komen. De voormalig FIA-president zou namelijk hebben gesproken met Ferrari's Executive Chairman John Elkann en uit dit gesprek bleek dat er geen rol voor Todt in het vat zat. Elkann heeft volgens het Italiaanse medium lang nagedacht over een rol voor Todt maar besloot uiteindelijk dat dit er niet in zit.

Droom

Toch valt het niet uit te sluiten dat de Fransman in de toekomst toch nog instapt bij de legendarische Italiaanse renstal. Todt kan namelijk in de toekomst mogelijk toch nog instappen bij Ferrari maar dan in een andere rol. De droom om als adviseur aan de slag te gaan bij Ferrari verdwijnt in ieder geval voorlopig in de koelkast.
