Brawn verwacht geen baanbrekende slimmigheden

Aankomend seizoen zal er veel gaan veranderen in de Formule 1. Er gaan immers compleet nieuwe reglementen in waardoor het veld mogelijk stevig door elkaar wordt geschud. De nieuwe wagens zien er ook overduidelijk anders uit dan tijdens de voorgaande jaren, dat bleek wel bij de eerste presentaties van de teams.

Toch houdt iedereen overduidelijk de kaarten tegen de borst. Geen enkel team wil mogelijke nieuwe slimmigheden immers delen met de buitenwereld. Iedereen hoopt immers dat ze een slimmigheidje hebben gevonden waarmee ze de concurrentie te slim af kunnen zijn. De gedachten van veel Formule 1-volgers gaan op dit gebied naar 2009. Toen verraste het nieuwe Brawn GP alles en iedereen met de dubbele diffuser.

Maas in de wet

Toentertijd veroverde Brawn de wereldtitel bij de coureurs met Jenson Button en kroonde het team zich tot constructeurskampioen. Toenmalig teameigenaar Ross Brawn denkt niet dat men in 2022 soortgelijke taferelen gaat zien. Het huidige Formule 1-kopstuk spreekt zich uit tegenover Motorsport.com: "Totdat de auto's de baan op gaan weet je niet of er een maas in de regels zit. Als je dat had geweten, dan was deze wel gedicht. Ik kan echter niet garanderen dat iemand iets heeft gevonden wat we niet hadden zien aankomen. Maar mocht dat wel zo zijn, dan zie je het niet in Barcelona. Diegene zal de sport willen overvallen."

Robuust

Maar toch maakt Brawn zich geen zorgen over mogelijke superslimmigheden. De Brit ,die tegenwoordig voor de Formule 1 werkt, denkt dat de nieuwe reglementen dit redelijk voorkomen. "Ik verwacht eigenlijk niet dat dit het geval zal zijn. Naar mijn idee zijn de nieuwe regels nogal robuust. Maar je weet het in deze wereld natuurlijk nooit helemaal echt zeker."

Als er wat wordt ´gebonden´ zal het meer met de vloer te maken hebben. en newey is daar een meester in. Verder: Mercedes zie ik ook wel weer wat uit de hoge hoed toveren hoor. De Ferrari is mooi en lekker ´ouderwets´ maar ik zie daar (nog) niets aan waarvan ik bang wordt. wel veruit de mooiste tot nu toe.

  De Ferrari schijnt een neus ontwerp te hebben, modulair, wat nog nooit eerder in de F1 gezien is, ze schijnen hierdoor sneller hun aeroconcept te kunnen aanpassen zonder eerst langs de crash test afdeling van de Fia te moeten.
  Het fijne weet ik er ook niet van, maar dat zal nog wel duidelijk worden de komende dagen.

  In de F1 kan iets er snel uitzien en rijden als een hok. Dus daar zou ik maar niet teveel van uitgaan Roy. En tevens zijn de gepresenteerde auto's allemaal versies waarbij de eventuele slimmigheden nog veilig achter een gordijntje in de fabriek liggen.
