Alonso hint op contractverlenging: "Maar beslis pas halverwege het jaar"

Fernando Alonso is dit seizoen de oudste coureur van het veld. De Spanjaard is inmiddels 40 jaar oud en toen hij vanochtend de baan opdraaide was hij officieel de senior van het veld. Maar de ambities zijn nog steeds huizenhoog. De tweevoudig wereldkampioen keerde vorig seizoen terug in de sport bij Alpine en hij aast op successen.

Het is een drukke week voor de Spanjaard, maandag trok hij het doek van zijn nieuwe wagen en vandaag kruipt hij alweer achter het stuur. Het lijkt hem niets te doen en vorig seizoen kon men zien dat hij het spelletje nog steeds in de vingers heeft. Maar of hij in 2023 ook nog op de grid staat is hoogstens onduidelijk, zijn contract loopt namelijk aan het einde van het huidige seizoen af.

Sterk

Maar het heilig vuur is nog niet gedoofd en Alonso barst van de ambities. Ook tijdens de perspresentatie van zijn nieuwe blauw-roze strijdwapen liet hij dat blijken. De Spanjaard sprak met het Duitse RTL en daar was hij positief over contractverlening: "Zoals het er nu voor staat zou ik ja zeggen. Ik voel mij nog steeds sterk genoeg om door te gaan. Maar ik maak pas een beslissing halverwege het jaar."

Nieuwe regels

Eigenlijk begint het avontuur voor Alonso deze weken pas. Het vorige seizoen was een soort opwarmertje voor de sluwe vos. De nieuwe reglementen zorgen voor veel prikkels bij de Spanjaard. Tegenover de Spaanse media laat hij weten goede hoop te hebben over zijn nieuwe strijdpaard: "Ik hoop het. Ik kwam terug in de Formule 1 voor deze nieuwe regels. Ik heb anderhalf jaar gewacht op deze nieuwe regels. Ik heb gezien dat het team deze wagen vanaf de grond heeft opgebouwd en we zijn vol motivatie."

Het is je gegund maar de vraag is of alpine hun motor wel op snelheid kan rijden zonder al te veel slijtage

  Doen gewoob de Mercedes tactiek , en nu wordt het volgen van ander3 auto,s ook wat makkelujker xd , de Alpine schijnt nog wel wat motorvermogen te verliezen, daarintegen om op het minimumgewicht te komen hebben ze geen probleem

  Zou kunnen. Maar denk dat de regels daar rond ook wel herbekijken gaan worden (dat hoop ik) en verder deed alpine vorig seizoen voor hun kunnen zeker niet ondermaats, maar qua motorvermogen komen ze iets te kort. Maar dit seizoen kan het misschien opgelost zijn
