Marko wil Gasly niet kwijt: "Iets wat wij zeker niet willen"

Pierre Gasly is al zeer lang onderdeel van de Red Bull-familie. De getalenteerde Franse coureur rijdt sinds 2017 in de Formule 1 maar de gewenste stap om hoog zit komt er maar niet van. In 2019 kreeg hij wel een kans bij Red Bull Racing, halverwege het seizoen werd hij echter teruggeplaatst naar Toro Rosso vanwege tegenvallende prestaties.

Sinds zijn degradatie naar AlphaTauri, voorheen Toro Rosso, zitten de resultaten van Gasly in de lift. Hij won in 2020 zijn eerste race en hij spreekt nadrukkelijk de wens uit om voor Red Bull Racing te rijden. Bij Red Bull ligt kopman Max Verstappen echter langdurig vast en tweede coureur Sergio Perez doet het zeker niet slecht.

Promotie

Red Bull-adviseur Helmut Marko is echter nog steeds groot fan van Gasly. De Oostenrijker, die ook over de talentenploeg gaat, gelooft in de Fransman. Tegenover Formel1.de spreekt Marko zich lovend uit: "Het contract met Gasly loopt nog tot en met 2023. Als deze verloopt en we kunnen hem geen promotie bieden, dan is er de kans dat we hem kwijt raken. Dat is iets wat wij zeker niet willen."

Red Bull-duo

Vooralsnog presteren beide Red Bull-coureurs echter zeer goed. Verstappen heeft daarnaast recent een reusachtig nieuw contract getekend waardoor hij voorlopig niet zal vertrekken. In Saoedi-Arabië kende Perez ook een sterk weekend. Marko is dan óók lovend over het Red Bull-duo, dat strijd met gelijke kansen. "In zo'n vroege fase van het seizoen waar beide coureurs op nul punten stonden zijn teamorders niet nodig."

Jammer voor Sergio, maar ik zou Gasly graag nog eens in de RB willen zien nu hij meer ervaring heeft. Racen kan die, benieuwd naar het mentale aspect van weer Max als teamgenoot.

Gasly is een zeurkous en potentieel onzeker mannetje. Maar stel... hij neemt de rust en aanpak die hij nu bij AT toont mee naar RB dan zou hij een heel goede zijn naast Max. Zoals Sainz zich nu ook opstelt en vanuit de underdog positie opeens kan meedingen om het kampioenschap.

  aanvulling: eigenlijk is gasly een laatbloeier. Hij rijdt beter vanuit zekerheid die hij moet opbouwen. Marko wist dat al want na zijn kampioenschap in de F2 moest hij nog even langs japan voor de super formule. Met het vertrek van Ricciardo konden ze niet anders, maar als laatbloeier was dat een slechte zet.
  
  Ik kijk niet gek op in ieder geval als Perez vervangen wordt door Gasly.

  Je beschrijft precies hoe Perez het dit jaar doet, goed voor 2 races dan.
  Daarnaast accepteerde Gasly niet dat Verstappen dik sneller was en uiteindelijk werd dat de downfall van Gasly.
  
  Perez is ook gewoon een erg goede team speler. Waar Gasly in Silverstoon pas aan de kant ging voor Verstappen nadat Horner op de radio kwam, daar deed Perez het direct. Perez moedigde Verstappen zelfs aan.
  
  Voorlopig denk ik dat Gasly vooral goed is voor Alpha Tauri.

Het grote probleem voor Coureurs met Franse afkomst is dat ze heel vaak beter denken te zijn als een ander, soms is dat ook maar heel vaak ook niet, ik bedoel Ocon werd door zowel Mercedes als het hele Franse legioen weggezet als het talent de toekomst van de F1 en we hebben eigenlijk allemaal gezien hoe hij met behulp van zo'n beetje alles wat in zijn vermogen lag om zich breed te maken ook gebruikte, wie herinnerd zich de clashes tussen Perez en Ocon niet, waarbij gelijk gezegd moet worden dat ook Perez hier zijn aandeel in had , Gasly een beetje hetzelfde verhaal bij zijn promovatie naar RB vanuit TR liet hij de wereldpers weten dat hij het Max moeilijk ging maken en dat hij het echte wereldwonder was na gesneden brood!

Nu moet ik zeggen dat ik Gasly een uitstekend Coureur vind en dat hij met de middelen die hij nu heeft bij AT het echt ontzettend goed doet, maar om nu te zeggen dat hij de buitencatagorie is nou nee, sorry maar ik zie het niet , ongetwijfeld dat hij best wel in staat is om podia te pakken met het juiste materiaal maar ik vind hem te kwetsbaar, een beetje te lief en vaak ook onzeker. dit is geheel mijn persoonlijke mening

Marko hoeft zich niet druk te maken want een beter team dan AT vindt Gasley toch niet.
Een betere race-engineer zou geen overbodige luxe zijn trouwens.
