Saoedische crash heeft gevolgen voor Haas: Geen reservechassis

Het team van Haas is bijzonder sterk aan het seizoen begonnen. De Amerikaanse renstal is na twee magere jaren uit een diep dal geklommen en tijdens de eerste twee races scoorde Kevin Magnussen tweemaal punten. Teamgenoot Mick Schumacher kwam ook aardig voor de dag maar hij moest de Saoedische Grand Prix wel missen.

Schumacher crashte immers zeer hard in de kwalificatie in Jeddah. De Duitser moest naar het ziekenhuis voor onderzoek maar voelde zich gewoon weer in orde. Toch kwam hij niet in actie, dat had niet zozeer met zijn fitheid te maken maar eerder met het oog op de beschadigde auto. Nog een keer schade rijden zou namelijk betekenen dat men problemen zou krijgen in Australië.

Reservechassis

Dit weekend staat de Australische Grand Prix op het programma en Haas ondervindt in Melbourne daadwerkelijk hinder van de crash van Schumacher. Teambaas Günther Steiner spreekt zich uit tegenover Motorsport.com: "We hebben geen reservechassis, we kunnen nergens op terugvallen. We moeten dus voorzichtig doen. Anders moeten wij weer met één auto gaan starten."

Magazijn

De Australische Grand Prix ligt niet bepaald om de hoek voor de teams en dat heeft ook invloed op het aantal onderdelen. De onderdelen zijn immers al geruime tijd geleden naar Melbourne verscheept en men heeft nog niet zoveel reserveonderdelen geproduceerd. Steiner: "Je neemt zoveel mogelijk onderdelen mee als je maar kan. Het was voor ons niet mogelijk om meer onderdelen mee te nemen dan we hebben gedaan. We hebben niets meer in het magazijn liggen. Je neemt alles mee wat je maar hebt."

  anderen website waar het interview wel op staat. Toegevend ik zit er gedeeltelijk naast. Het probleem is tweeledig. transport capaciteit en de produtie. Het team heeft niet meerdere reserve chassis gemaakt. Later in het jaar worden de chassis vervangen dat is meestal een periode van X aantal GP's. tijdens die X aantal GP's heeft het team van Haas dus 1 reserve chassis. dat chassis is nu al gebruikt.

Leuk zo'n budgetcap. Dit kan toch nooit de bedoeling zijn. 1 crash en je loppt heel het seizoen op je tenen. Belachelijk

  Dit heeft niets met het budgetcap te maken maar met het wegvallen van de grote sponsor waardoor het weinige beschikbare geld nog verder is verschrompelt.
  
  Hier hadden ze vorig jaar (mét hoofdsponsor!) ook al last van maar toen heeft Papa Mazepin zelf de portemonnee getrokken om een nieuw chassis voor zijn zoon te betalen.
