Perez beperkt Red Bull-schade: "Goed resultaat maar we verloren Max"

Red Bull Racing kende een teleurstellend weekend in Australië. Kopman Max Verstappen kwam op geen enkel moment in zijn ritme en viel uiteindelijk uit met onbekende problemen. Teamgenoot Sergio Perez moest zijn hoofd koel houden en de eer redden. De Mexicaan deed precies wat men van hem vroeg en werd tweede.

Bij de start kwam Perez goed weg maar moest hij vol in de ankers om teamgenoot Verstappen te ontwijken. Hierdoor verloor hij een plekje aan Lewis Hamilton. Uiteindelijk kon Perez, met behulp van de safety car, Hamilton voorbij steken. Tegenover interviewer van dienst Mark Webber legt hij de situatie uit: "De start was lastig en Lewis haalde mij in. Hij zat er goed bij in bocht 1 en toen was het zaak om hem in te halen en toen kwam de safety car."

Safety car

Perez maakte zijn pitstop vlak voor de tweede safety car-fase en kon uiteindelijk Hamilton voorbij. De Mexicaanse Red Bull-coureur had nogal wat moeite met deze tweede periode achter de safety car. Tegenover Webber is hij glashelder: "De eerste stint was niet zo goed als je het hebt over de degradatie van de banden. Toen verloren we op de hards twee plaatsen met de safety car maar dat wisten we daarna goed te maken."

Verstappen

Perez was tevreden met zijn tweede plaats. Voor het teambelang was het leuk maar het uitvallen van Verstappen doet zeer bij de Oostenrijkse renstal. Perez: "Het is een goed resultaat maar we verloren Max. Het zou fijn zijn om een dubbel podium te pakken maar we zijn deze eerste drie races nogal ongelukkig."

Steeds meer laat ie zien dat hij terecht z’n plaats heeft bij RB ! De wagen bevalt hem duidelijk beter als die van vorig jaar!
Ik ben blij dat hij iig de punten pakt die strx broodnodig zijn! Al denk ik dat Ferrari met 2 vingers in hun neus kampioen gaat worden

  Banden degradatie bij RBR gaven Ferrari en Leclerc deze race vrij spel.
  Voorgaande races was dat niet het geval.
  Lees alweer veel “je bent zo goed als de laatste race” reacties.

Ik zag Perez ook weer even door het gras gaan, voor hem een goede Race, Max zag het denk ik al aankomen, ik had er ook nog geen vertrouwen in.

Leuk die 2de plek maar kijk eens hoeveel seconden, dus, Als Max wil strijden voor de titel en dat kan nog steeds, dan zal er een zeer verbeterde Red Bull aan de start moeten komen, en die ook nog eens heel betrouwbaar is.

Ik ben benieuwd, ze komen er wel weer bij, de vraag is alleen wanneer.
