Bottas hekelt gedrag Stroll: "Zo hoor je niet te racen"

Het team van Aston Martin beleefde in Australië een weekend om snel te vergeten. De herstelde Sebastian Vettel kende zeer veel problemen en viel uiteindelijk uit na een crash. Zijn teamgenoot Lance Stroll kwam wel over de finish maar kende niet bepaald een beter weekend, de Canadees liet zich meermaals op negatieve wijze zien.

Tijdens de derde vrije training schoot Stroll in de slotfase van de baan waardoor zijn wagen zwaar beschadigd raakte. Zijn monteurs hadden de wagen net op tijd af voor de kwalificatie waardoor Stroll toch de baan op kwam. Binnen een paar minuten vergat hij in zijn spiegels te kijken en tikte hij zijn landgenoot Nicholas Latifi keihard van de baan. Het leverde Stroll schade en een gridstraf op. In de race verdedigde hij op incorrecte wijze zijn positie en kreeg hij een tijdstraf van vijf seconden.

Limiet

Stroll verdedigde zijn positie ten opzichte van Valtteri Bottas. De Finse Alfa Romeo-coureur was niet bepaald te spreken over Stroll. Bottas spuwde zijn gal tegenover de internationale media: "Het slingeren maakte het voor mij enorm lastig om te bepalen waar ik naartoe moest. Ik denk dat het nogal op de limiet was. Daarna forceerde hij mij met die inhaalactie van de baan. Ik denk niet dat je zo hoort te racen."

Ocon

Voor Bottas kwam het uiteindelijk allemaal goed. De Fin pakte weer punten en kon tevreden naar huis vertrekken. Toch hebben de capriolen van Stroll er mogelijk voor gezorgd dat Bottas minder punten heeft gepakt. Bottas: "Ik was nogal verbaasd dat ik er voorbij kon komen. Ik denk dat het mij wel veel tijd heeft gekost. Misschien kon ik Esteban Ocon nog bijhalen als dit niet was gebeurd. Maar goed, vier punten is niet slecht."

t verbaasde mij wel dat Stroll er zo makkelijk vanaf kwam bij de Stewards, t was nou niet echt een nette 'inhaalactie'....

Voel vooral mee met de ‘gewone’ werknemers bij Aston Martin.
Ze moeten zich al een slag in de rondte werken om een matige auto verder naar voren te krijgen en als ‘beloning’ moeten dan een prutser en een coureur uit vorm (of over de hill) het voor jou en je team gaan doen…

  makkelijk praten achteraf misschien, maar ze hadden toch veel beter Perez kunnen behouden? Stroll jr gaat het niet meer worden, hobbelt al jaren mee en geen enkele verbetering. En Vettel is niet over de hill, die is al in het ravijn beland. t begint een beetje sneu te worden om een 4-voudig kampioen zo te zien...

  @LP; ik kan alleen maar het vermoeden hebben dat papa Stroll voor de F1 zo belangrijk is dat ze gewoon weigeren z’n zoontje naar behoren te straffen. Gisteren leek nergens op, die man is een gevaar voor de rest. Ik hoop dat ie rap tegen 4 punten aanloopt, een keertje toekijken heeft heel misschien iets effect qua zelfreflectie. Al vrees ik het ergste. Heeft niks in F1 te zoeken.
