Webber waarschuwt Red Bull: "Ferrari heeft de wind in de zeilen"

Het team van Red Bull Racing begon vol goede hoop aan het huidige seizoen. De Oostenrijkse renstal kent echter een verre van probleemloze start van het seizoen. Er zijn immers zeer grote problemen met de betrouwbaarheid en dat heeft het team nu al zeer veel punten gekost in de strijd met Ferrari.

Regerend wereldkampioen Max Verstappen moest zijn Red Bull-bolide tweemaal vroegtijdig verlaten en dat kostte hem punten. Verstappen viel uit in de slotfase van de Grand Prix van Bahrein en ook afgelopen weekend in Australië was het weer raak voor de Nederlander. Teamgenoot Sergio Perez scoorde dit weekend wel veel punten met een tweede plaats maar de Mexicaan viel eveneens uit in Bahrein.

Sterk

Het is overduidelijk dat de Red Bulls wel zeer zeker snel zijn, de betrouwbaarheid blijft echter ver achter. Ook voormalig Red Bull-coureur Mark Webber viel dat op. De Australiër spreekt zich uit tegenover Channel 4: "Natuurlijk is de snelheid aanwezig. Ze zijn sterk maar niet sterk genoeg om de Australische Grand Prix te winnen. Maar wanneer je 18 punten en een mogelijke snelste ronde verliest, dan zijn er veel punten verloren gegaan. Leclerc scoort inmiddels dubbele punten dus het is lastig. Het is een lang seizoen en Red Bull zal niet gaan haasten, maar deze punten zijn lastig terug te verdienen."

AlphaTauri

Webber ziet dat de problemen bij de Oostenrijkse renstal niet zomaar uit de lucht komen vallen. De Australiër ziet problemen die nogal groot zijn: "We moeten ook kijken naar AlphaTauri. Dat team heeft ook een lastig start op het gebied van betrouwbaarheid, kijk naar Bahrein en Saoedi-Arabië, dus er zit wat zand in de machines. In Milton Keynes werkt Red Bull hard door. Maar Ferrari doet het momenteel goed, ze hebben de wind in de zeilen."

al met al denk ik dat Red Bull het gezien de hevige strijd van vorig jaar en de beperkingen qua windtunnel en cfd tijd (ze stonden bij de deadline op 30 Juni eerste in het WCC en dus hadden zij de grootste handicap) een prima auto heeft neergezet waarmee ze dit jaar iig om de overwinningen mee kunnen doen en waar ze voor de komende jaren ook goed mee zitten. Als Ferrari dit jaar de titel pakt is dat helemaal geen ramp, als je maar een concept hebt waarmee je de komende jaren vooruit kunt en waar nog veel rek in zit. En wie weet komen er dit jaar ook nog wel weer kansen om terug te komen in de titelstrijd.
