Leclerc blijft rustig in aanloop naar thuisrace Ferrari: "Benaderen zoals eerste races"

Het team van Ferrari staat een bijzonder weekend te wachten. De legendarische Italiaanse renstal heeft immers een zeer sterke seizoenstart achter de rug en gaan met Charles Leclerc aan de leiding van het wereldkampioenschap. Dit weekend mogen ze hun kunsten vertonen voor het eigen publiek.

Dit weekend trekt het Formule 1-circus immers naar het circuit van Imola voor de Grand Prix van Emilia-Romagna. Dat betekent dat Ferrari voor het eerst dit seizoen in actie komt voor hun eigen publiek. De race in Imola keerde in 2020 terug op de kalender maar dit jaar zal er voor het eerst sinds de coronapandemie weer publiek op de tribunes van het circuit zitten. Dat betekent dat men zich moet voorbereiden op een grote zee van Ferrari-fans.

Vroeg

Ferrari-coureur Charles Leclerc wil niet te enthousiast het weekend benaderen. De Monegask blijft rustig en wil ook nog niet denken aan een wereldtitel. Tegenover de internationale media roept hij op tot rust: "Ik kan mij voorstellen dat iedereen enthousiast is maar ik wil er nog niet teveel aan denken. Het is nog steeds zeer vroeg in het seizoen. Maar het is wel fijn dat ik 34 punten voorsprong heb. Ik wil nu echter niet teveel aan het kampioenschap denken."

Druk

Leclerc wil de eerste thuisrace van zijn team, later volgt immers ook nog Monza, niet op een bijzondere wijze benaderen. De Monegask roept iedereen op om normaal te doen: "We moeten het weekend benaderen zoals de eerste drie races. Ik denk dat het belangrijk is dat we niet teveel druk op onze eigen schouders leggen. We moeten onszelf niet voorbij rennen. We doen het als team extreem goed sinds het begin van het seizoen en ik denk dat we gewoon onze dingen moet doen."

De druk ligt volledig bij Sainz, wederom achter Leclerc eindigen en hij weet wat er van hem verwacht wordt de rest van het seizoen, het lijkt onvermijdelijk.

  Ik leg de druk toch even bij beide heren; gezien de topspeed van de RB's tot nu toe hebben we in Imola meer kans om 'thuis' te winnen dan in Monza. Dus laten we dat dan maar gelijk doen.
  
  En hoe eerder we een 1e coureur aanwijzen hoe beter. Snap nog steeds niet hoe Kimi ooit voor Vettel mocht kwalificeren op Monza...

  ik snap nog steeds niet dat ze bij Ferrari uitgerekend vlak voor het belangrijkste weekend van de kalender Kimi te kennen hebben gegeven dat hij einde jaar kon ophoepelen. Leek wel alsof de anders zo makke Kimi plots baldadig werd. In tijden hadden we hem al niet meer zo zien knallen. Alles om Seb te pakken zo leek het.

  Denk dat dit het laatste weekend is dat Sainz nog volledig de vrije hand krijgt, als Leclerc na dit weekend verder is uitgelopen, is het klaar.
  Geen idee of de teams grote updates meenemen naar Miami, verwacht het niet eigenlijk, maar zeker wel op Catalunya en dan kan bijv. Red Bull zomaar naast Ferrari staan.
  Ferrari heeft een ijzersterk basisontwerp en dat moet gemaximaliseerd worden, ze kunnen zich niet veroorloven dat de boys de punten onder elkaar gaan verdelen.

  In de ochtend kan een spatje vallen, de eerste F1 fp is om 13.30, die ontlopen elkaar wel denk ik.
