Legendarische Fittipaldi rekent op Verstappen: "Max zal er weer staan"

Het team van Ferrari is momenteel de onbetwiste koploper in de Formule 1. De legendarische Italiaanse renstal is absurd sterk aan het nieuwe seizoen begonnen en hun stercoureur Charles Leclerc heeft een reusachtige voorsprong in de WK-stand. Toch is het nog geen gelopen zaak, het is immers nog zeer vroeg in het seizoen.

De Italiaanse ploeg kreeg dit seizoen al de nodige concurrentie van het team van Red Bull Racing. Het team van regerend wereldkampioen Max Verstappen kampt echter met zeer grote betrouwbaarheidsproblemen. Verstappen kon aardig concurreren met Lecerc maar viel wel al in twee van de drie races uit in het nog prille seizoen.

Hoog niveau

Toch denken veel kenners dat Verstappen en Red Bull vroeg of laat keihard gaan terugslaan. De Red Bull is immers geen langzame auto. Ook meervoudig wereldkampioen Emerson Fittipaldi verwacht nog wel wat van Verstappen. De Braziliaan spreekt zich uit tegenover VegasInsider: "De start van het seizoen is lastig voor Verstappen en Red Bull maar ze lieten ook hun hoge niveau zien. Ze zijn het team dat Ferrari kan uitdagen en moet uitdagen. Ze zijn het team dat Leclerc en Sainz kan uitdagen, daar bestaat geen twijfel over."

Uitdaging

Fittipaldi heeft heel erg veel vertrouwen in de kunsten van regerend wereldkampioen Verstappen. De legendarische Braziliaanse oud-coureur denkt dat ook dat de Nederlander snel weer zal opstaan: "Ik denk dat ze meer weerstand nodig hebben van de motor van Honda. Ze moeten nu hard werken om meer weerstand te bieden. Max zal er zeker weer staan, zeker weten. Hij is altijd een uitdaging. Je kan hem niet zomaar aan de kant schuiven."

Ik denk ook zeker dat het nog niet gelopen is, ben er zeker van dat Honda en RB het “lek” boven krijgen. En wel Op imola omdat ze met een 1, 2 hier een flinke opdoffer kunnen geven aan Ferrari. Om vervolgens in Miami dominant te zijn door de hoge snelheid die daar behaald wordt op de lange rechte stukken waar ze 0,6 sneller zullen zijn dan wie dan ook per rondje. Dus ik denk dat Max de komende twee races 21 punten in loopt op leclerck. Ben er 99% zeker van.
