Alpine wil met updates Red Bull en Ferrari aanvallen

Met de snelheid over één ronde zit het wel snor bij Alpine. De Franse renstal wedijvert in de kwalificatieom de voorste posities. Echter, de goede performance op zaterdag, kan Alpine niet vasthouden op de zondag volgens Pat Fry, die bij het team verantwoordelijk is voor het technische gedeelte.

"Het is duidelijk dat onze kwalificatieprestaties relatief competitief zijn, aangezien we beide auto's regelmatig in Q3 hebben gehad", zei Fry tegen racefans.net. “Als we het goed hadden gedaan in Melbourne, hadden we kunnen eindigen op de tweede startrij." Fernando Alonso stevende af op een toptijd, maar door een technisch probleem schoot de tweevoudig kampioen van de baan.

Fry concludeert na drie races dat de zaterdag sterker is als de zondag en wil daar zo snel mogelijk verandering in zien. "We moeten ons racetempo verbeteren en we onderzoeken wat we kunnen doen. Er moet altijd de juiste balans worden gevonden tussen het kwalificatietempo en het racetempo en we moeten hieraan blijven werken om vertrouwd te raken met de auto."

De Fransen nemen om dit doel te bereiken nieuwe onderdelen mee naar Imola waar aankomend weekend de vierde Grand Prix van het seizoen wordt verreden. Fry legt verder uit wat die updates inhouden. "Het team neemt een upgrade mee van het chassis voor de race en zal het tijdens de oefensessie van vrijdag een verbeterde vloer testen."

Maar dat is niet het enige volgens Fry. "We werken eraan om gewichtsbesparende items op de auto te zetten waar en wanneer we kunnen."

Tot dusver heeft Alpine 22 punten verzameld en staat vijfde in de constructeurskampioenschap, twee punten achter McLaren.

Het lijkt nog niet helemaal zeker, maar waarschijnlijk krijgt Sainz voor dit weekend een verse PU, bij controles na Melbourne vond Ferrari wat kleine issues, heeft deze verholpen, maar toch besloten om de nieuwe PU voor Carlos 1 of 2 races naar voor te halen, de eerste gaat terug in de pool en wordt later weer ingezet.

  Zon eerste motor kan je beter inzetten in Monaco en Hongarije idd, al zijn dit dan toch ook de eerste haarscheurtjes in het o zo sterke Ferrari.

  Geen idee of dit haarscheurtjes zijn, Carlos zou de nieuwe PU waarschijnlijk in Miami gekregen hebben, maar nu uit voorzorg dus 1 race eerder, de eerste PU wordt, zoals je zegt, waarschijnlijk op de vrijdagen en Monaco en/of Hongarije ingezet.
  Niet deze vrijdag in ieder geval, de parc ferme regels worden al na FP1 van kracht, als Carlos de nieuwe PU krijgt is dat dus direct bij aanvang.

  Maar misschien heeft Carlos dat wel uitonderhandeld bij zijn nieuwe contract, een streepje voor op Leclerc op Imola ;)

Op pure snelheid gaat dit niet lukken, maar als er 2 RB wagens weer de geest geven kan het. Dit weekend is de laatste kans voor Max/Perez/RB om nog mee te gaan doen. dit moet een 1/2 worden. anders ben je gezien, laat staan als je weer uitvalt. en ja ik weet dat er nog 5674444 races zijn, maar dit geintje moet maar eens over zijn dit weekend.
