Binotto blijft positief: "Dit hoort bij de sport"

Het team van Ferrari wilde schitteren voor het eigen publiek in Italië. Op het circuit van Imola veranderde een kansrijk weekend echter al snel een in zeer pijnlijk, onprettige nachtmerrie. Allebei de coureurs spinden op het legendarische circuit en Carlos Sainz viel zelfs uit in de openingsronde van de race.

Sainz werd in de eerste chicane achterstevoren getikt door Daniel Ricciardo. De Spanjaard stond vast in de grindbak en moest voor de tweede race op rij vroegtijdig uitstappen. Teamgenoot Charles Leclerc moest de inboedel redden maar ook hij kwam van een koude kermis thuis. De Monegask maakte een foutje in de slotfase en spinde tegen de muur aan. Hij kon zijn weg vervolgen en werd uiteindelijk zesde.

Fans

Het was een fikse teleurstelling voor het team en de massaal aanwezige Tifosi. Teambaas Mattia Binotto sprak zich balend uit tegenover het Oostenrijkse ServusTV: "Dit is natuurlijk een teleurstelling. Voor de fans hadden we gehoopt op een iets beter resultaat. Maar dit hoort bij de sport. Soms gaat het goed, soms niet. Vandaag was de start niet goed en toen crashte Carlos. We hadden geen goede pitstops en de kleine details maakten uiteindelijk het verschil."

Goede coureurs

Binotto gaat na het teleurstellende weekend echter niet bij de pakken neer zitten. De gekrulde teambaas houdt de goede sfeer vast: "Het is nog een lang jaar en we moeten gefocust blijven. Wij hebben twee goede coureurs tot onze beschikking en er komen ook races aan waarin wij weer de beste zullen zijn."

Zo zie ik de reacties van een teambaas graag! Teleurgesteld, sterk en sportief! Hulde!
Red Bull komt ook nog wel meer pech tegen en dit zullen ook zeker niet de laatste pech gevallen van Ferrari zijn.

Ferrari heeft nu toch echt een wagen die echt super goed is en toch weet Leclerc het weer te redelijk te verkloten.
Had gewoon je paar puntjes verlies genomen en kijk naar de volgende GP.
Prost was daar absoluut een meester in,die keek niet naar een GP,maar naar het gehele seizoen en wist dan dat er GP's kwamen die hem wel goed lagen en zo hengelde hij vaak toch kampioenschappen binnen.
Soms met het nodige geluk (1986),maar ook door te denken dit het en ik pak mijn punten en over 2 weken kijken we weer verder.
Leclerc zou is bij Prost langs moeten gaan,ze spreken immers allebei best redelijk Frans.

  Helemaal eens, Leclerc had P3 en 15 punten moeten pakken, kortom zijn verlies dit weekend.
  Nu koste het pushen teveel, en uiteindelijk kan dit soort fouten je het kampioenschap kosten.

  Wat kort door de bocht. Hoewel ik het met je eens ben dat hij in vorige seizoenen wel eens geneigd was fouten te maken onder druk was hij dit seizoen tot nu toe volledig foutloos en reed hij juist heel slim en volwassen. Dat hij nu een foutje maakt, dat kan iedereen overkomen. We gaan zien hoe zich het verder gaat ontwikkelen en of hij naarmate de druk en spanning toeneemt hij meer fouten gaat maken.

  Maar dit was nog maar de 4e race van het seizoen. Iedere op zijn minst redelijke coureur rijdt wel 3 foutloze races in een seizoen. Maar er zijn er nog 19 te gaan. Leclerc heeft tot dusver elk jaar wel een paar kostbare (stomme) fouten gemaakt. Als Red Bull vanaf nu de betrouwbaarheid op orde heeft, dan kan Leclerc zich dat niet permitteren. Red Bull en Max straffen dat genadeloos af, zoals we vorig jaar hebben gezien aan hoe zij vrijwel elke race gemaximaliseerd hebben.

Uithuilen en opnieuw beginnen. Het was gewoon niet onze dag. Een combinatie van pech en onnodige fouten kan gelijk zo'n race op z'n kop zetten. Hoewel het mij een raadsel was dat de DRS niet eerder kwam aangezien de baan op dat punt gewoon droog was, maakt het toch niet uit door de spin.

De manier hoe je in Miami en Catalonië antwoord is het belangrijkste.
