Magnussen kijkt uit naar Miami: "Was hier op vakantie toen dit baantje vrij kwam!"

Dit weekend staat de eerste Grand Prix van Miami op het programma. Het gloednieuwe circuit in Miami Gardens is voor veel teams nog een mysterie maar men kijkt wel reikhalzend uit naar het evenement. Voor het Amerikaanse team van Haas wordt het de eerste thuisrace van het seizoen.

Het Amerikaanse team is goed begonnen aan het huidige seizoen en dat is vooral te danken aan comeback kid Kevin Magnussen. De teruggekeerde Deen presteert boven verwachting en is verantwoordelijk voor alle punten die het team tot nu toe heeft gescoord. Ook voor Magnussen is de race in Miami bijzonder, vorig seizoen was hij immers nog actief in de Verenigde Staten.

Buzz

Magnussen kijkt dan ook uit naar de race rondom het Hard Rock Stadium. De stad is echter geen nieuw terrein voor hem, zo laat hij weten in een persbericht van zijn team: "Ik heb Miami al een paar keer bezocht. Vorig jaar reed ik in de IMSA en heb ik hier wat tijd doorgebracht. Ik was hier zelfs op vakantie toen dit baantje vrij kwam! Ik kijk ernaar uit om hier terug te keren. Er is een echte buzz omtrent deze race dus het wordt fantastisch."

Mix

De Haas-coureur weet wat hem te wachten staat qua circuit. Magnussen verheugt zich erop en weet dat er van alles mogelijk is in de stad in Florida: "Er zijn twee hele grote inhaalmogelijkheden met deze twee lange rechte stukken. De baan heeft een goede mix van zeer snelle sectoren en langzame sectoren. Vanaf bocht 4 tot bocht 11 is het echt heel erg snel, van bocht 11 tot bocht 16 is het echter veel langzamer. Er is dus een goede mix en met de lange rechte stukken kunnen we mogelijk inhalen. Hopelijk kennen we een goede race."
