Verstappen en Perez gooien eerste bal bij MLB-wedstrijd

Het Formule 1-circus is dit weekend neergestreken in Miami. De wereldberoemde stad in de de staat Florida maakt dit seizoen zijn debuut op de kalender van de koningsklasse van de autosport. De coureurs vinden het fantastisch en zijn deze week druk bezig met allerlei PR-werkzaamheden.

Red Bull Racing-coureurs Max Verstappen en Sergio Perez waren gisteren te gast bij de lokale honkbalclub Miami Marlins. Het duo kreeg zelfs de eer om voorafgaand de MLB-wedstrijd de eerste ballen te werpen. Het duo ging daarna nog op de foto met de honkbalsterren en bekeken de wedstrijd.

      Dacht ik ook. Maar als ik zonder opwarming een bal heel hard gooi dan kan er weleens een blessure ontstaan. Snap dat ze dat risico niet nemen.

      Ik heb m’n rechterarm door de jaren heen toch genoeg getraind om zo’n ball zonder warming-up knoerhard weg te gooien.

      Gooien is de andere kant op dan wat je altijd getraind hebt, Cyril. Dat maakt het juist zo verraderlijk.

      Uit ervaring weet ik dat er heel veel techniek bij komt kijken om een bal hard en zuiver te gooien. Het is enorm makkelijk om er een blessure bij op te lopen. Zelfs de proffie pitchers kunnen maar 1 wedstrijd gooien en dan meestal niet eens de hele wedstrijd. Daarna is er een periode van 'genezen' nodig om weer een volgende beurt te mogen doen.

      Ik heb hier zo’n wedstrijdbal liggen en die is naast hard ook best zwaar. Het is idd minder simpel dan het lijkt, zeker als je het niet gewend bent.

      Ik garandeer je als Max of Checo een van die gasten meeneemt op bijvoorbeeld een rondje Nürburgring, dat er onderbroeken volgescheten gaan worden. Misschien ook een beetje pis.

    Max werd vroeger misschien wel als laatste gekozen op school tijdens kastiebal, trefbal etc. Maar dat maakt dus gelukkig geen ene moer uit, jongens en meisjes.
