Perez vol motivatie: "Ik vecht nu elk weekend om de poles en zeges"

Het team van Red Bull Racing begon op lastige wijze aan het seizoen maar men lijkt de problemen te hebben opgelost. Twee weken terug in Imola was Red Bull opvallend dominant. Max Verstappen won op Italiaanse grond de sprint en de race, ook pakte hij de pole position. Zijn teamgenoot Sergio Perez kwam ook goed voor de dag.

De Mexicaan werd tweede in Imola en is zeer sterk aan het seizoen begonnen. Perez kan zijn teamgenoot Verstappen aardig bijhouden en kende beduidend minder problemen. De motivatie is dan ook hoog en in Miami krijgt men dit weekend wederom een kans op grote successen.

Motivatie

Perez heeft er in ieder geval vertrouwen in. De Mexicaan heeft zich zo goed mogelijk voorbereid op het debuut van Miami en hij jaagt op succes. In zijn vooruitblik is hij in ieder geval positief gestemd: "Hier gaat het kiezen van de juiste downforce-configuratie de grootste uitdaging worden voor iedereen. Nu vecht ik elk weekend mee voor de poles en de zeges, dat motivatie om te pushen gefocust te blijven is dus enorm aanwezig. Elke week wil ik meer en ik ben dan ook benieuwd wat ik voor elkaar kan krijgen in Miami."

Mexicanen

Het feit dat de Formule 1 dit weekend neerstrijkt in Miami valt in goede aarde bij Perez. De Mexicaan kijkt reikhalzend uit naar het Formule 1-debuut van de stad in Florida: "Ik vind het heel erg gaaf dat we naar Miami gaan. Het is fantastisch dat de kalender zich steeds meer uitbreid in de Verenigde Staten. Dit is voor mij ook een stuk dichterbij huis, misschien ga ik hier op een dag wel wonen. Ik weet haast zeker dat er wel Latijns-Amerikanen en Mexicanen deze race gaan bezoeken. Dat betekent dat ik hopelijk veel support ga krijgen. Voor het team wordt het op en naast de baan in ieder geval een belangrijke wedstrijd."

  Trump is nooit consequent geweest, dus dat kan zomaar. Overigens zitten er in Miami een hoop latino-Trump supporters. Veel komen oorspronkelijk uit Cuba en die waren niet zo blij met de toenaderingen van Obama tot het Castro-regime.
