Horner verklaart problemen Verstappen VT1: "Willen niet dat de auto gaat koken"

Max Verstappen kende een lastige eerste vrije training in Miami. De Nederlander hoopte genoeg kennis te kunnen maken met de nieuwe baan maar enkele problemen gooiden roet in het eten. De Red Bull-coureur kreeg te horen dat hij zich snel in de pits moest melden en de teleurstelling was te horen in de stem van de regerend wereldkampioen.

Hij vroeg zich over de boordradio af of het weer te maken had met de temperatuur, hij kreeg bevestigd antwoord. Teambaas Christian Horner verklaarde de problemen tegenover zijn landgenoten van Sky Sports: "De auto was te warm. We zijn nu met het team aan het onderzoeken hoe dit kan. Misschien zat er vuil in de koeling. Ze hebben naar de koeling gekeken en we willen ervoor zorgen dat de temperatuur onder controle blijft. We willen natuurlijk niet dat de auto gaat koken."

Horner heeft wel zin in het verloop van het weekend. De Brit weet echter nog niet of een nieuwe winstpartij erin zit in de wereldberoemde stad: "Het is haast onmogelijk om te zeggen of dit circuit ons ligt. Qua karakter lijkt het een beetje op het circuit in Jeddah. De banden zullen hier dan ook heel erg belangrijk worden. Het wordt waarschijnlijk een fascinerende race met veel inhaalacties. Het asfalt is daarnaast ook anders hier. Dat zorgt dan weer voor een andere uitdaging."

Verstappen rijdt helemaal niet in de 2e training. Zo graag.willen ze niet dat de motor gaat koken.
