Alpine wil in gesprek met de FIA na onduidelijkheid omtrent tijdstraffen Alonso

Het team van Alpine wil de stap naar de kop van het veld maken. Vooralsnog wil dat dit seizoen nog niet lukken, de prestaties zijn zeker niet slecht maar het gat naar de kop van het veld is nog groot. Daarnaast kent het team ook de nodige pech en dat leidt tot veel frustratie.

Stercoureur Fernando Alonso is bezig met een nogal ongelukkig seizoen. De Spaanse tweevoudig wereldkampioen kent veel pech en dat kostte hem al zeer veel punten. In Australië was hij zeer snel in de kwalificatie totdat hij crashte, in Imola werd hij aangetikt en twee weken terug kreeg hij in Miami zelfs twee tijdstraffen van de stewards.

Inhouden

De tweede tijdstraf van Alonso in Miami zorgt voor zeer veel woede bij Alpine. De Franse renstal snapt er niets van en eist een antwoord van autosportfederatie FIA. Alonso sneed in de slotfase de chicane af en werd daarvoor bestraft. Teambaas Otmar Szafnauer was nogal duidelijk tegenover Motosport-Total: "Toen Fernando op het rechte stuk reed hield hij twee keer duidelijk in. Ik durf niet te zeggen of hij alle tijd terug gaf maar een groot gedeelte wel. Als hij in de auto zit, hoe moet hij dan weten of hij genoeg tijd heeft teruggeven."

Praten

Aankomend weekend staat de Spaanse Grand Prix op de kalender en Alpine zal daar gaan praten met de autosportfederatie. Teambaas Szafnauer staat er in ieder geval volledig voor open: "Bij de aankomende Grand Prix moeten we maar gaan praten met de FIA. We moeten hier duidelijkheid over krijgen en daarnaast moeten we ook een nieuwe manier vinden om te kunnen zeggen waar je meer tijd moet teruggeven."

Correctie, het was niet Hamilton die de chicane afsneed, maar dat moet natuurlijk Alonso zijn. Ik heb blijkbaar een trauma aan overgehouden van Hamilton die chicanes mag afsnijden en daar nooit voor gestraft wordt. :/

Ik dacht dat je geen instructies meer kreeg van de FIA. Je moet het zelf oplossen en als het niet goed genoeg is, volgt alsnog straf.....

Dat afsnijden van de chicane was in mijn ogen een bewuste actie om tijd te winnen. Diskwalificatie is wat er bij mij in me opkwam. Ik denk dat hij niet mag klagen met die tweede tijdstraf.

  Inderdaad., De 2 snelste ronden van Alonso uit de race zijn de ronden geweest waar Hamilton de chicane afsneed. Hij won daar echt tijd mee en het was genoeg om na de 5 seconden straf net voor Albon te blijven die 5,2 seconden na Alonso over de streep kwam. Palmer heeft dit ook uitgebreid behandeld in zijn analyse.
  
  Overigens niet de eerte keer dat Alonso deed dit ook al in Japan 2018 en in Abu Dhabi 2018 en in Rusland 2021. In Abu Dhabi was het zo extreem dat de stewards er inderdaad over dachten om Alonso een zwarte vlag te geven, maar dit wilden ze niet doen in Alonso zijn laatste race.
  
  Ik vind deze opmerking ook wel heel typerend:

  Alsof Alonso het niet wist. En evengoed wat een enorm domme opmerking van Szafnauer. Wat maakt het uit of Alonso het wist of niet? Als je 10 km/u harder door de pitstraat gaat weet jet het misschien ook niet, maar daar krijg je nog steeds een straf voor. Wat stelt Szafnauer nu eigenlijk voor? Dat Alonso het onterechte voordeel van het afsnijden van de chicane mag behouden en daardoor voor Albon finisht? Wat een ontzettende aanfluiting zou dat zijn.
  
  Maar ik hoop dat ze het onderzoeken en de stewards dan met de conclusie komen dat Alonso opzettelijk de baan heeft afgesneden en daarmee een race schorsing krijgt voor het in diskrediet brengen van de sport. En begrijp me niet verkeerd, ik vind Alonso echt een briljante coureur en ik zie hem graag racen, maar het opzettelijk vals spelen wat Alonso doet walg ik van. Zolang hij niet voldoende bestraft wordt blijft Alonso dit ook doen.

  Ze nemen er nu ook min of meer één mee, alleen niet gemonteerd dan. Ze zouden meer geld moeten betalen voor het insturen, maar er gaat veel minder aan monteursuren betaald moeten worden. Daarnaast heeft een T-car nog veel voordelen. Bovendien lukte het 30 jaar geleden met veel kleinere budgets zelfs teams als Prost, Arrows en Minardi.
